We were one of the first people to stay at John and Alison's brand new Lodge, which is snugly and considerately attached to their own little cottage. I almost don't want to tell people about our little discovery, but it would be unfair not too!

The Lodge is positioned very favourably indeed with its uninterrupted panoramic views of the sea loch which the tiny village of Glenelg runs along and then onto the hills of the Isle of Skye, which lies less than a mile from the main land at this point. This is a truly stunning part of the UK. It's a bird and sea life watchers paradise; we saw seals from our lodge's window.

The Lodge itself is a real labour of love. You can see from the moment you walk through the door that a lot of thought has been put into the accommodation which was Architect designed. It is a very welcoming environment for a couple or small family. There is a shower room downstairs which is located just off the main entrance lobby, which with it's under floor heated tiled floor you can tell has been thought out with walkers in mind. Also in that small opening lobby which is off the terraced area is an area for shoes, a pull out pantry, a large fridge with a small freezer unit and a washer dryer. The terraced area has great views over the loch and more immediately the little front garden with its newly planted flower beds. There is a small table with two chairs here, perfect for a romantic meal outdoors in the summer. There is a BBQ at your disposal also.

The main lounge area has a small sofa bed, an extendable table with 4 dining room chairs which sit in front of the main front window. There is a small flat screen TV with a DVD player and a CD/Radio plenty powerful enough to pipe your music through the entire of the property without it blasting out. Timber is the primary construction material in this property and has been very tastefully done in my opinion. In fact the whole property has been decorating in a modern and relaxing way, utilising many neutral colours with browns and reds. The kitchenette area which is open plan from the lounge area is again well thought out. Some how they have managed to give plenty of surface space in an area not big enough to "swing a cat". There is a very good cooker with grill, microwave, kettle (with tea pot and cafetiere) toaster, coffee maker and single cupboard with dishwasher. There is loads of cupboard space and they are well stock with every thing you could need - pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses, cups and mugs - you name it, it's probably there!

Upstairs is found via the timber stair case which is again open plan off the lounge (indeed you can look down to the kitchen from the bedroom) and is again very tastefully and simply decorated. Its got a large king size (I think) bed with is very comfortable, its got side reading lights and a separate toilet room, this by the way makes it unsuitable for two sets of adults even with the sofa bed as you would have to walk through the main bedroom to get to the toilet. The room also has 4 loft style windows which give yet more amazing views onto the bay and over to Skye.

All in all I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation. I can without a shadow of a doubt say it is the nicest, most comfortable accommodation I have stayed in any were near the £50 per night price range, and the stunning quiet location on the bay near to both a shop and a inn, make this a real find in my opinion.
