Not having been to dalyan (except for a day trip) I can't compare the two. BUT, Kalkan is very hilly.
Even staying up the hill side would, I think, mean plenty of hot work getting up and down.

(ducks down behind the barricade as the Kalkanites rush to the rescue) ;)

I agree with Del that Kalkan is hilly and I am not certain it would be suitable for children as it is very quiet and laid back...depends what they like to do on hoiday.

We have been going to Kalkan for the past couple of years and will be back next week. We stay in a lovely hotel but could be a bit boring for children although great for adults. It takes us about 10 minutes stroll down to the harbour and it is quite a steep walk but we get a taxi back,,,but then we are not youngsters.

Our other favourite resort is Icmeler which I would say would be ideal
for children, no hills, beach close by, plenty of apartments and loads of places to go to.

It all depends on personal choice

Dalyan is a flatter resort, but you have to get water taxi or boat to the beach as there is a lake in the centre of Dalyan, not a beach.

thnks for the answers.
our kids are very happy to play in pool etc during the day and also happy to sit and have a quiet meal at night and a wander, as they do in dalyan so kalkan sounds ok apart from the hills but im sure the view you get from your pool more than makes up for it, and im quite a regular taxi hoekind of person at the end of the night even in a flat resort.
been to icmelerand although lovely not for us.......too large a resort.

looking for a villa i think for next year

thankyou everyone :)

what about akyaka, thats lovely, very turkish, has a gorgeous beach and is only 50 mins from dalaman airport, my kids love it there, its smaller than dalyan but the scenery is gorgeous and theres a little river with restaurants dotted along it aswell as the beach . we are thinking about doing a week in akyaka and a week in dalyan next mth, but a bit worried about all the mozzies in dalyan

its about 20 miles from marmaris, we have stayed there for the last few years and its lovely, also due to it being mainly a turkish resort prices in restaurants are very reasonable, its in a conservation area so therefore no high rise hotels or large package tours, so keeps all the riff raff out lol, let me know what you think

I'm just back from Akyaka and had another lovely week there. Our son is 10 now and we have been going there for the last 5 years. It really is a perfect resort is you are looking for quiet , picturesque and primarily turkish resort with lots of nce restaurants and a great beach. Well worth looking at if you like this type of resort
