all the best Martin :D

Where do you buy your flight tickets for mumbai going down to goa, as next season i will be flying through munbai??? :fly

You should be able to buy your tickets with the agent used to buy your ticket to Mumbai, they can gety internal flights if associated with an international flight (or that's what I was told last time). Or you could visit the Jet Airways web page which allow you to book online.

http://www.jetairways.com/

Hope this helps

Also Trains are very cheap about 300 Rs/- one way. The day trains have more availability, but if you go through a travel agent they'll add a bit of commision (probably 100 or 200 Rs) but more likely to get when you want to go... Your choice.

Trains are good - I'm off up in a few days :o)

Hi Everyone,

We are returning to Goa in December for our 6th visit and are going to take a trip up to Bombay, we brought info home with us in March and intended to go by train so we could see a bit more of the country but after reading about the train ie 3 tier sleeping I a bit worried as I cant go all night with a trip to the bathroom at least once (its an age thing) and Im concerned if hubby and I get top 2 tiers I dont fancy getting in and out of bunk all night so we are looking to fly up from Goa now, I would prefer to go with tour operate as I feel it has added security...........I dont want to wander into a the wrong area's, we have a friend out there at moment working and he says its pretty scary when you dont know where you to go etc.

Any info would be much appreicated, aprrox prices and any tour company

Thanks

getting in and out of the bunks is easy, they have ladder access and is easy, also depending if you go via night/day you might not be asleep that much and if, like you say you want to see a bit of the country, then I recommend going by day so you can see!

Flights are cheap Air Deccon http://www.airdeccan.net probably the cheapest, but I think they just have small(ish) planes so if you're not a confident flyer then maybe choose Jet Airways (which I love), about £50 per person I think...

Train is good, you can have 2 tier or 1st class if you're a little fragile.. :D

hello! try boking through day tripper. It is an english guy called eddie who runs it with his wife. They are based in goa in calangute. Thry have a website i think its http://www.daytrippergoa.com but type it in google to find it if this is wrong! We did a lot of trips with them, and they are all great. All escorted so dont worry about wandering into the wrong areas! They go by train or plane!

Have fun, i really liked it there!

We've done a couple of long rail journies from Goa, one to Cochin, one to Bangalore, both booked through Eddie at Daytripper, both times we asked him to book us the two sleepers at the other side of the gangway, which meant you had two window seats facing each other which folded down to make one bunk.with the other directly overhead and no third tier unlike the other side of the passage with two rows of three deep bunks facing each other, that makes it much easier for those night trips to the loo for us more mature individuals!!

We are flying to Mumbai 1st October, and then we obviously have to get to Goa. We land in Mumbai at 10.30 pm and I have heard that you usually have to wait for a domestic flight to Goa until early next morning. As we have probably got such a long wait I was thinking of taking the train instead, I know its a 12 hr journey approx, but sitting in Mumbai airport for 7/8 hours doesnt really appeal either. Has anyone got any information on train down, good or bad, I don't mind!

I THINK that the Train leaves at around 6.00 in the morning from Mumbai or at 11.00 at night. Might want to check somewhere, but I think that's right give or take an hour.... And it's quite a distance from the Airport so you will have to leave an hour? to get there? (Guestimate). Hope this helps

I wonder is anyone can help with a hotel in Mumbai, we are thinking of doing the trip indepentently in December, hopefully flying up and train back, (this is hubbys idea!!), a friend of ours has just return from a month working in Mumbai and says we need to be staying round the Marine Drive area, he was an hours drive out of centre and as we are only there a few days dont want to spend too much time in a transit, probably 3 star 'ish'.

Any input would be much appreciated

Thanks

A couple of years ago we spent a few days in Mumbai We stayed in the Diplomat Hotel and it was very reasonable in price and it was fine. It is located on a street that runs behind the Taj Hotel and the Gateway To India where the ferries leave for trips out to Elephant Isle We walked up from the hotel one day to the main railway terminus just to experience it so it's handy for that too. Just type in Diplomat Hotel Mumbai in Google and you will see it there with lots more beside Hope this helps
