You can do the transaction yourself if you do online banking. You are just paying directly from your bank account to their one.

Thanks Fiona - but what about the exchange fee - sterling to euros?

Ignore me - just had a quick look on my online banking and there it was (3 menus in!) "Make an international transfer"! Thanks again!

I did a recent transaction ( but of dollars) and it actually came to less than I had worked out. So the rate I got was really good.

Which bank are you with?

I'm with both NatWest and Nationwide and I can't do an international transfer online with either and they both charge around £20 to do it!

Any info appreciated.

HSBC and it cost £9 for 100 euros!!! so about 10%. Think I'll stick to the turn up and find a room formula in future!
