Marlou,

We stayed here in May for our overnight stop before flying out to the Dom Rep the next morning. The hotel is located between Term 1 & 2 conected by the sky link.

Have a look at this link.

the Skylink is an enclosed bridge over the somewhat confusing roads of the airport complex. The airport Radisson has an entrance onto it and the next exit along is to the railway station - just a couple of minutes. From there it's about 15 minutes to the city centre (Piccadilly) and even on Sunday evening there will be 4-5 trains an hour. And now the really good news - after 6:30pm there is a flat fare on all trains within Greater Manchester of just £2 per person (see http://www.gmpte.com/upload/library/08_1439_Rail_Ranger_leaflet_030309.pdf ) for the rest of the evening! Given the difference in prices between the airport and centre you could get your fare back in a couple of drinks! All trains except those going to Crewe/Wilmslow call at Piccadilly which has restaurants starting from the end of the forecourt road and spreading into the city centre (up to 10 minutes walk). Leave the station through the doors betwen WH Smith and Superdrug. Some trains also call at Oxford Rd and Deansgate which are close to some of the "younger" bars.
