We are going to the alba queen at colakli nr side with our 2 granddaughters they will be 6 and 9 at the end of september when we go. The hotel is lovely we have been told and the area too but, there are lots of resort reports on this site and its a good place to start if you need advice. To be honest we have been all over turkey and its lovely no matter where you go.

Hi Ana, my first recommendation is Babadan Apartments(self catering) in Icmeler. For the topic on Babadan scroll back to June 17th, 2010, for Icmeler topic scroll back to April 22nd, 2008. Also, I would suggest Panormos Hotel which is B & B in Altinkum, scroll back to October 8th, 2010 for Altinkum topic. For info on Panormos, go to top of forum and click on Hotel Reviews, click on Turkey, then scroll down the list to Panormos.

You really are spoilt for choice in Turkey! You would probably be happier in one of the less commercialised areas from what you have said. I would look at Dalyan, Akyaka or Turunc, and avoid bigger resorts like Marmaris,Bodrum,Altinkum and the area around Olu Deniz. Dalyan has a stunning beach, but you have to get a boat to it as Dalyan is on the river, so that may put you off. Although the bigger resorts are very popular they are not known for being authenically Turkish, they tend to cater for the English, which is fine for some people because that is what they want. I'm sure you'll have a great time its a brilliant country to take children.

:) Thank you so much for your replies. We stayed at Protaras in Cyprus over 20 years ago. It was almost undiscovered and we would like somewhere like that but also with a selection of restuarants. Don't want it too quiet as the children will be bored. Decisions!! You have given us food for thought thank you x

You could have a look at the Bodrum Peninsula, there are some nice resorts there which aren't too busy but not dea quiet either - Bitez, Turgutreis, Yalikavak or Ortakent may suit you. They all have nice beaches, lots of nice restuarants and are all close to Bodrum if you fancy some sightseeing or shopping. Another plus point is that they are all less than an hour's transfer from Bodrum airport, which is good with children.

Turkey is very child friendly so wherever you choose I am sure you will have a great time.

totally agree with the babadan apartments they are very family friendly and extremely popular never really heard a bad report about them, julian forrrest also in icmeler would also be a good choice, however might i suggest calis beach it is my opinion ideal for children due to the long beach and prom,it isnt as hectic as icmeler which is becoming more and more popular with teenagers during summer although it is yet to reach the rowdy heights of malia, kavos lagana etc.If its a more low key resort then dalyan is wonderful and charming , and only 20 mins from dalaman, bitez and turgutries on the bodrum side are also nice enough and also within an hour of the airport unlike marmaris and icmeler which can take up to 2.5 hours to reach.
