I've been to Calella it's not too bad there but we only went for 4 days and it was out of season, plus we were AI.

we also have taken cheap flights with ryanair and booked golden bahia in tossa de mar early september (2 adults 2 teenagers), saved £700 by only booking hotel with thomson, you can get a taxi (expensive) or use a shuttle service. we have daytime flights so its bus to lloret then on to tossa de mar.
see my earlier post, back to tossa.

Ah yes thanks johnny I forgot about Tossa - we also went there for 4 days (same hotel as johnny) & had a lovely time. Nice resort, fairly quiet, lovely beach.

I would recommend Playa D'Aro which is quieter and a lot more cosmopolitan than Lloret. It's got a great beach, fab shopping and heaps of restaurants and bars. As far as I am aware it is not in UK holiday brochures so you will not find many fellow brits there, tends to be lots of dutch.
