I need urgent help! I've spent hours on the internet and rang up the Turkish embassy but still need help!
I'm an Australian and have been offered a job in Istanbul. The employer wants me to travel in 2 weeks. Problem is, apparently I cannot apply for a work/ residence visa while in Turkey? This is what I know...1) employer to apply for a work permit from Turkey (30 days process)..2) I must apply for a work visa once I obtained the work permit in Australia (6 weeks to 3 months process)...3) residence visa can only be issued after completing 1 & 2 in Turkey
Is there ANYWAY that I can enter Turkey as a tourist, then apply for residence permit, then work visa WHILE in Turkey? Even if it means crossing border to Greece? If yes, how long does it take to apply for a residence visa in Turkey and the requirement?

Yes you can get your work permit in Turkey. To be honest, coming at it from a British citizens point of view, any permits etc that have been granted to acquaintances of mine in the UK had to be done again once they arrived in Turkey anyway.
You can go to Turkey on a visit visa, but cannot legally work on that. You can apply for a residence visa and work permit once you are in Turkey(your employer will probably be able to do most of the work permit stuff for you once you arrive in Turkey).
Sorry I don't know the timescales for permits, visas etc being issued.

Get your self to ıstanbul and get a vısıtor vısa on entry then your employer should be able to sort everythıng for you Go to http://www.mymerhaba.com and have a look at that sıte lots of people ın Istanbul wıll be able to assıst you.

I've also heard it's not a huge problem getting a work permit, especially if you use someone in the know to speed the process for you.
