Do not try the Italian. Not great and far too salty
If your ok with staying round pool and doing Thomson trips it's a good hotel but outside there is very little to do a few restaurants but very little else.

Limmasol tourist area was clean and tidy and there was plenty going on even for the time of year, plenty bars and tavernas and places to get snacks.

There are small sections of beach but the sand is black not ideal for those who love to lie on the beach all day.

I have visited Limasoll before and always enjoyed it. I would not stay in this area again. We have previously stayed at Amathus.

Limassol had been descibed to us as "the Skegness of Cyprus".
This was fairly accurate as the main road consists of nothing but gift shops and restaurants.
It is not the most pleasant of places to go for a stroll as the main road is a dual carriageway and the driving leaves a lot to be desired.
The beach near the hotel is fairly poor (only really suited to snorkelling etc) and is the opposite side of the dual carriageway to the hotel.
Limasol old town is a 15 minute bus journey away and is worth a visit.
The highlight of the area for us was the Fasouri Waterpark which is weel organised, clean and fantastic fun. If you want a great day out this is the place to go.
We found the best way to see the area was to hire a car which was delivered to our hotel for us. This works out as much better value than the organised trips and allows you to go "off the beaten track" especialy if you get a 4 x 4 as we did.
In summary, Limassol is OK but you have got to be prepared to go out and about to see the proper Cyprus.

It was towards the end of the season when we visited Lemesos, but the eastern end, the tourist area, still seemed busy. We did think that it would not be a good idea to come in the height of the season due to the heat, and human traffic along the pavements. We went as part of a wedding party most of which met daily at a nice little beach, behind Flocafe. But a little further away from the town, is a promenade path stretching for about 4-5 km along which could be found some better beaches. The best restaurants/snack bars we found were Little Venice, Cantone and a little snack bar opposite Little Venice which was so good people took pictures of their food (shame I can't remember the name). The best bars close by were Friends Bar and Albertinos.

Basically, we didn't expect too much from Limassol, as it is an industrial port, which has grown with the usual expanse of 'neon'. Around the hotel are a couple of reasonable bars, which all serve decent food. No real beach to speak of but we did go into the 'old' town and found that to be a mix of modern and original - no too overcrowed or pressured selling here. If you are looking for romantic walks in the evening, you'll be dissapointed.

Limassol over the past few years has had a lot of upgrading to its roads and sea front. All areas are clean and maintained to a high standard.

The resort entertainment is vey good with a variety of good restaunts and clubs. Caters for all ages.

The beaches are of a blue flag status. Very clean and the water is crystal clear. The sand is of the darker type.

The whole resort was made up of building sites, dirt and grime.

Extremely quiet, resembled a ghost town.

We were told the shops were supposed to be beautiful and upmarket. What a joke! Tacky, cheap crap gift shops lined the main street.

The whole resort resembled Beirut on a bad day.

Very nice although a bit spread out. Regular bus service available and plenty of taxis. Wide selection of bars and restaurants - everything from typical Greek, to Chinese, Italian, pizza places, Irish pubs and the inevitable Burger king and MacDonalds!!

For those that like clubbing, there is plenty of choice but you do not get loads of noise from the bars or clubs if you want to relax at night.

The beaches are mainly sandy, with clear, warm water and plenty of watersports for the more energetic!!

There is plenty to do away from the resort, with the usual coach trips to take you sightseeing.

But, the more intrepid holidaymakers might like to try the Jeep Safari to the Troodos Mountains or the Akamas Sanctuary. We did both trips and found our drivers to be knowledgeable in local history, geography and fauna or is it- flora?! Making a point of how much can be grown in Cyprus- (letting you try fresh figs, grapes, pomegranates etc straight from the tree or bush!!)

A meal in a local taverna is included in the price with local wines to try - all in all, a very enjoyable and entertaining day. The advantage of the jeep is that they can go where the coaches can't, and you see much more of the local flavour of Cyprus.

The views inland are beautiful and you can see for miles from the top of Mount Olympus.
