Just come back from the Neptuno and had a fabulous time. in our opinion 15 of us went it is one of the best holidays we have ever had. The hotel is very clean, food was fine, breakfast - omlettes and eggs made to request in front of you also beans, bacon sausage toms etc, continental breakfast etc etc. Dinner was self service as breakfast with an eat as much as you like system. Hot food, stews, chips, grilled meat and fish in front of you, pancakes made to order, soup, desserts, massive icecream fridge which again was self service and lovely.

happy hour 7 - 8 buy one get one free - if you only want two drinks just ask for 1 other wise you get 4 if that makes sense.

Pool always looked clean with a life guard on at all times we were round but we did spend the morning and early afternoon on the beach before sauntering off for tapas and beers before going back to the pool for the children to play.
There is no facility to change travellers cheques in the hotel so we went to either the bank or a souvenir shop close to the carribean breezer. A tip - make sure you take your travellers cheques in sterling. We took ours in euros and the bloke in the souvenir shop said that they didn't charge commission on sterling but they did on euros. Not sure if this is the same everywhere so it may be wise to do a little checking up on this area.

There is a laundry service

We stayed in 2 self catering 1 bedroom apartments. Consisting of one bedroom with twin queen size beds, 2 bedside tables ,1 built-in wardrobe and 1 stool.

Lounge consisted of 1 bed settee with pull out bed underneath, an armchair ,waste level wall units with tv,a coffee table and a table and 4 chairs. There's a door to the balcony and a patio table and 4 chairs there is also a clothes horse for drying purposes.

The kitchen considering this was a 4*hotel was very basic. It consisted of a fridge/freezer,a coffee maker, a combination microwave and grill,a 2 ring hob and a toaster. Suprisingly no kettle or oven. There was a good range of units and drawers including sink unit.

The bathroom consisted of a washbasin with marble surround and lights,a low level wc,a bidet and an extra large shower. There were ample towels supplied every day also the apartment was cleaned every day . Each bedroom has a safe, there is a charge of 2 euro's per day for this facililty payable at reception.

The complex is brand new and consists of Apartments and hotel rooms and is situated in the Playa Serena area of the resort (The best end in my opinion).

We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment, which was very comfortable and modern, the apartment was equipped with a fridge freezer, 2-ring hob, oven grill microwave and coffeemaker plus a TV (only euro sport and BBC world in English)

The bathroom had shower toilet and bidet.

The beds were very comfy the third bed was a sofa bed.

We found the air conditioning to be very good, considering we were there in the middle of August the apartment was always cool.

There is the option to eat in the Hotel dining area (9 euros per person) but we did not partake so I cannot pass judgement.

The entertainment was aimed mainly at the Spanish guests as about 70% were Spanish this was fair enough there is also a mini club for the very young.

There were quite a few British families (most with children and teenagers) and most seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Roquetas de Mar is an excellent choice for families and older couples who want to spend a relaxing holiday, be warned if you are after living it large this is not the resort for you! The main entertainment in the resort seems to be just chilling out in the real sense of the word you really get the feeling of happy relaxed resort

There are some great restaurants to many to name, but a few of my favourites are the Ayda (pizzas fish meat etc) La Grappa (a good real Italian Restaurant) There are two Chinese Restaurants, which are both good.

You really will be spoilt for choice; there are a few British bars, which serve food, this tends to be your typical breakfast and chips style none are really that good, but then again I have never like the mock pub scene so beloved of the Costas.

Pride of place must go to El Bistro, English run, this restaurant has got to be one of the best of it's type in the whole of Spain serving excellent food in a lovely environment a real touch of class the banoffe pie was to die for, there is an extensive menu serving some good British classics and more exotic fare, you must try this restaurant, booking is advisable.

A word about the beach (a short walk from the complex) the reps say shingle, but it is a sort of fine grit no problem at all, the sea can be a bit rough at times but at other times is like a mill pond. The sun beds are very comfy made of wood with a big thick mattress, once down I did not want to get up.

There is a good supermarket around the corner (use the back entrance of the complex for a short cut) but be warned it shuts a 10.00pm Monday to Friday and 2pm on Sunday and opens at 8.00am apart from Sunday (8.30am) they sell everything you need plus a meat and deli counter which sell a full range of Spanish ham and sausage.

The JMC rep Ben was a nice young chap and did his best to make everyone happy and relaxed.

On the trips front though please try to avoid the market although it is big it is full clothes that are not much cheaper than at home.

Granada is good if you like a bit of culture (I enjoyed it, not so sure about my Wife and 12 year old daughter), Mini Hollywood would have been alright for half a day but a full day stretches it a bit (it gets very hot) there is a large Zoo there but it is on a series of steep hills the one site catering is not up to much either, the location is stunning though and when you walk in with the Clint Eastwood music playing you feel you could be in one of the films

I did meet a few British people that had been coming to the resort for years, they begged me not to tell anyone about it

We had a great holiday, so much so we have booked to go back the same time next year I think it may become a yearly event.
