Myself and my fionce just came back yesterday. And we wouldn't go back!
The food was nearly the same every day and there wasnt much choice.
Entertainment was an old man playing the piano and shaking his leg (buy one get one free happy hour).
The pool has cold water in but does get a little bit warmer as the sun comes round which is about 1pm. The steps which help you get in are hagging off (both pairs) I bruised both my legs on them so be carefull!
Hotel room was nice but the plugs, shower rail and lights were hagging off. Hotel lifts really dated makes funny noises whislt in them!
Reception and bar staff are both friendly and polite apart from one bar tender who takes half an hour to get you a drink!
We went for dinner mostly to the jukebox which is just outside the hotel turn right. The food was lovely and it was cheap!!!
We didnt like it but you might dont take other peoples advice try it!

well, i visited this hotel this time last year and it was that good in all areas apart from entertainment i came again. this year i do not know what has happened, towels got changed evry day fair enough but my room never gor mopped or swept, neither did my bedding get changed in 2 weeks i know this because i was sick on the 3rd night (too much spanish vodka) and it was still there on day 14!! asked for a claim form at reception and they said no as they are being closed down in october. and as for the entertainment juan carlos every night was far too much for my liking he even mimes his same songs every night!! food great as we liked the chef that was there last year and here this year for 1 week of my stay. trust me dont go there this year, very bad

Hiya I just want to say I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
There was one slight problem the Entertainment was'nt very good but there were bars and clubs just 5mins walk.
There were nice looking waiter and receptionest (lol)
Visting this year, can't wait.

We organised this holiday ourselves,
The Hotel itself was pretty dated inside,alonf with old fanshioed lift system. I spoke but spoke to a local spanish man who advised a refurb was going to happen in the future.
The Hotel was clean and cleaners changed the linen everyday.The staff at reception were very friendly.
The pool area and looked very clean with plenty of flowers around.
We were half board but we decided not to eat there, this was not because of and bad info , we were not at our appt that often and we prefered to go out. So i cant make a comment on the food.
we went for a long weekend hotel was ok, had no problems or seen any concerns. Air con was nice to have in the rooms, shame they looked as though they were from the 60's
Did not say for any Entertainment, no comment
All in all we were moderatly happy with our accmo, after all we didnt pay that much per night anyway.
Would i visit hotel again : YES would would prefer to look elswhere

Not a bad hotel but a little bit over rated as a 3 star as it seems to be in need of a refurb. Loose fittings in our room which really should have been attended to and a stiff noisy balcony door that had seen better days. Decor of communal areas very dated and entertainment just for oldies but it was a winter break. Went with a baby and we had to clean the baby seat ourselves at lunch as it was disgustingly dirty which is a very bad point for a hotel and would be a health and safety issue in the UK. Food was typical of this type of hotel and nothing special just average.

We returned from 2 weeks at this hotel on the 5th August and I can endorse everything beamere36 says.
Excellent value hotel. Clean and friendly staff and thank god for the air conditioning.
Had a great time in Benidorm, there is always something to do or somewhere to go (an evening ticket to Terra Mitica is good value and great fun).
We will be back!!!!!!!!

Were just back (August 16th 2003) from visiting the Gala Placidia for the second time. It was up to the same standards as our last visit. The complaint about the pool being a bit small and not getting the sun until the afternoon is quite valid but for us it was a blessing, as it allowed us to get our baby in the pool before the sun got too hot! The good thing about the pool was that (while we were there) the staff were quite strict in their "no reserving sunbeds with towels" rule, so much so the staff picked up all the towels from empty beds and took them to reception to be claimed when the owners finally turned up! We watched in amusement the owners coming back later in the day and thinking someone had stole the towels!
Food is excellent although quite samey, a lot better than the burgers and chips I normally eat at home! (try the swordfish, its lovely!). With 1 night a week having a special Carvary night with free shot of Sangria!!
Rooms are typical Spanish hotel rooms, but the cleanliness is next to none, maids visit every day, and fresh towels are given each day (linen every 3 days).
Staff are very friendly and good with the kids (Rocky the Irish Barman is first class and has very good local knowledge!) If you are going soon don't be surprised if a certain spanish barman asks for

GALA PLACIDA HOTEL
We stayed at this hotel in january 2003. Booked through Beninter travel agency based in benidorm.
The hotel was fine, very clean, rooms done every day if you wanted. The food was very good, with a good selection of sweets, you wouldn't go hungry here. There were quite a few tour operators reps about the hotel including all the main ones. All the waiters and bar staff had a happy attitude, and were great with our two kids who were the only ones in the hotel at the time.
The rooms were fairly smallish, but adequate with satellite tv if you paid a little extra. Entertainment was on every night and was reasonable, pistol/rifle shooting, archery, bowls, pool games laid on every day. Nice comfy bar & lounge area.
The location is a few yards off the bottom road, not too far from burger king. Very quiet at night, I feel it was in an ideal location. When we stayed there were a lot of Spanish people, mainly elderly, but they were game for a laugh and their constant dancing was fun to watch.
The staff made the holiday a bit more special though, and we would definately go again. TOM.

Just returned from this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone.
The food was of poor quality and was not varied.
The swimming pool is small and does not get the sun until 1pm.
The bathrooms were not very clean and the enamel was flaking off the bath.
The entertainment was also very poor for both children and adults.
The only good thing about the hotel was the location, being only 5 minutes from the beach.

Just returned from a two week stay at this hotel, excellent staff, excellent food and very clean. Only downside for me was the swimming pool, which was the same depth (2.5metres) throughout although there is a toddlers pool. Would recommend this hotel with no problem.
Lots going on round about and only a five minute walk to the beach.
