Hi - hope you can help

I'm flying MON303 from Manchester to Sanford on 2nd Setpember, and I've checked which aircraft I'm likely to be on, thanks.

This will be the first time I've flown to Orlando not on Virgin, Monarch was simply far, far cheaper. However I have to admit that reading online reviews I''m a little nervous about punctuality, poor food, lost luggage and the general condition of the aircraft!

Is there just one meal on the flight? If so any idea when it's served and what I'm likely too be eating?

And I'm right in thinking there's no seat back IFE in economy?

And do you know how much extra leg room seats are to purchaase on the day of the flight?

If you do have any other bits of info to put me at ease that would be great !!

Kev (a little nervous !)

Thanks for your help :-)

redboat,

LGW-TFS-LGW (ZB284/5) are operated by an Airbus A300B4-605R. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

bigkevvo,

Your flights, MAN-SFB-MAN (MOM303/2) are operated by Airbus A330-200. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). Seat back IFE is available to premium passengers, but economy have mainscreen IFE via screens above the isle. Extra legroom seats are £40 per sector. However, it's unlikely these will be available on the day of the flight as they generally get booked up in advance. If you want extra legroom seating, I would enquire about their availability pretty soon. The meal is normally served approximately 90 minutes after take-off.

Hi.
This is my first post on here so please be gentle :) , I was wondering if anybody can help, we booked our holiday back in April for a fortnight in sunny Majorca, we booked our flights direct with Monarch on their web site. We are due to leave Manchester airport on Friday 30 September at 15:00 and return on Friday 14 October. Today I received an e-mail advising that both flights have been canceled, no reason or excuse just your flights have been canceled and you need to re-book your flights.
After looking on Monarch's web site, we can either transfer to the Friday lunch time flight which will cost £20 per person more or wait until the Saturday afternoon flight which will cost £15 per person more plus an extra night at the hotel and all the hassle of changing transfers, having an extra day off work etc etc.
What I would like to know if at all possible, does anyone know why Monarch have canceled our flights and is this a regular thing with this airline?
This will be our first holiday to Majorca and first flights with Monarch and to be honest I am thinking about canceling and flying with another airline. My sister who works at a large travel agency advised us not to use Monarch, but they where much much cheaper at the time.

Sorry for the long message, maybe with time I will not write so much.

Thank You

Katie.

I don't know why they've cancelled your flights, but I use Monarch and think they are great. They did change my flight times to Lanzarote for September, by about 7 hrs, but they let me swap the flight with no charge, or cancel. I think that is very good customer service. Never had them changed before though.
Much prefer them to TC and Thomsons.

NWLass, I would recommend that you contact Monarch customer services, as Sunaddict did, and advise them of the circumstances. They may well be able to waive any fees if you are changing the flight as a result of them cancelling your original one.

Hi sunaddict.
Likewise I do not know why they have canceled our flights, unfortunately every flight is now more expensive than when we first booked in April.
To some people £20 each outbound and £15 inbound might not sound a lot but for us that is a total of £175 as there are five adults, there is no way we can afford that.

Hi Partyboy_uk.
I tried that earlier but the reply I got was either you pay the difference or you may cancel and have a refund less administration costs, when I asked how long it would be until I had the refund the young lady on customer services said up to eight weeks, I explained that we would need the refund straight away so I can book with a different airline but her attitude was that she did not care. All she did was repeat either pay the difference or cancel, I told her I will call back to which she replied don't take long as the other flights are filling fast and ended the call abruptly.
My next door neighbor uses Monarch all the time and have never had a problem, she said their flight was delayed by 45 minutes in June but they were told about it at least twelve weeks before they departed, it would appear that Monarch have some other plans that they do not wish us mere mortals to know but just to accept it and pay more.

Monarch are totally ruining our family holiday and I am not sure who to contact to complain to.

Hi NWlass
When they changed my flight times I received an email to respond to. They sent me one daily until I actually got in touch. The options they gave me were in the email, so they offered me a change free of charge without me asking. When I rang, they couldn't have been more helpful. Swapped my flights and prebooked seats, even discussing the choice of seats.
Sorry you're having this problem. Just shows how 2 peoples experiences can be so different.

Hi again.

Hubby has just got off the phone with Monarch customer services, they admit it is because they have canceled the flights, but they are within their rights to cancel or change flights even though hundreds of passengers are affected.
The customer service person was very caring and tried to change the flights but said we would still have to pay the difference and she could not waive the extra charges, so she has canceled the flights and said the money will be back in our account on Thursday or Friday and she has waived the administration costs.
Hubby says that the advisor tried her best to get new flights for the same price but her computer would not allow her, the advisor apologized for the problems this has caused and was sorry that Monarch has failed us.
My sister has just told me that she was told that the Palma flights have been canceled to help with the holidays 4u crisis in Turkey, this is very caring of Monarch but I fail to see why other passengers should lose out.
I have been on various airline sites and Easy jet seem to be the cheapest, we will still have to find about £50 more, but that's better than the £175 Monarch wanted.

Thank you for your help with this matter.

Katie.

NWLass, given Sunaddict's experience I would persist with Customer Services. If you do not get something you think is satisfactory, and if you get somebody as abrupt as you described, I would ask to speak to a manager to see what can be done, calmly explaining that you appreciate that your flight has been cancelled but you do not expect to be spoken to in the manner that you were and given the circumstances you would like to know if they can do anything more, if even only a gesture. You have nothing to lose ;o) You may also be interested to know that you can make contact with Monarch on Facebook. I think the hours of contact are Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm. Best of luck!!
