Sunaddict,

MAN-ACE-MAN (ZB546/7) are operated by an Airbus A300B4-605R / A330-200 respectively.

Just had a look and it appears the A300 is single configuration with 30" pitch. We paid for the extra legroom rows/seats at the front of the cabin. Hubby is going to be really unhappy trying to squeeze 36" inside legs into that space. Nice to see Monarch haven't bothered to let us know. I was only commending their customer service a few weeks ago!

Sunaddict,

The A300 is a wide bodied twin-jet with 2 isles. There's a seat plan on our What Aircraft? guide. The first 6 rows I think it is are all extra legroom on this particular aircraft for the summer as a row was removed to give more room. The seats on the A330, assuming you're up front on the return flight is the premium cabin.

Thanks Darren. I did check the layout and it said single config, but if they've altered it that's great. Yes, we are upfront on the return as well. Extra long legs have a lot to answer for :rofl

Hi

I am travelling from LGW to Alicante on ZB264 on Sunday 28th August. I see that this aircraft is an airbus a330 , does anyone know what window seats are windowless!

thanks

rizza,

LGW-ALC (ZB264) is actually an Airbus A300B4-506R, not an A330-200. Avoid rows 11-15 as there are 2 rows with no windows in that area, and the rest have windows.

I am in OCD planning mode and decided yesterday that the Buy 2 get one free offer on magazines was a good buy so coughed up £8 for magazines for our flight. I then realised that they weigh a ton and will probably take us over our 5kg hand baggage allowance. Can we just carry them under our arm or do they have to go in a bag? We are flying PE with Monarch from Gatwick. ( I have heard they are ultra strict?)

Strictly speaking, they should be in your bag but you'll probably get away with carrying them unless the check-in or gate staff are being really strict. The worst they can do is say you're overweight so you can just put them in the bin if needed.

Thanks Darren. It's funny how obvious things are when you stop stressing about them!

Ryan,

Welcome on board. The MON329 LGW-SFB (the MON328 will likely be your return flight) on 17 Sep is due to be operated on an A330-200 as usual. You can find out more information on this aircraft on the What Aircraft Guide.

IFE shown on this date is listed here: Monarch IFE Aug-Oct 2011

There are photos of the A330-200 on My Media Page

Monarch cancels Dreamliner order

The Monarch Group has told staff today that it has cancelled orders for six Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

It said the decision was due to deliveries being delayed from 2010 and the airline's "strategic decision" to focus as a schedule airline on strengthening and developing its shorthaul network.

It said this change of focus, announced in June, had been supported in 2011 by the introduction of new scheduled services to Cyprus (Paphos), Turkey (Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman), Greece (Corfu), Spain (Barcelona) and Egypt (Sharm el Sheikh).

"Monarch Airlines will see further expansion into new UK bases and new routes from 2012, whilst remaining dedicated to supporting its long standing tour operator partner needs," it said in a statement.

"Further consideration will be given to developing and strengthening its longhaul options in the future."

The move has angered pilots at the airline. One pilot, who asked to remain anonymous, told TravelMole: "We are all disgusted."
