International departure tax 500Baht per person - in cash

National (I believe) is either 300 or 400Baht.

We've just returned - 300 baht to leave Koh Samui and 500 baht to leave Bangkok per person.

thanks for replies - we have now returned.
We had to pay 500 bahts when we left Ko Samui - this was all we had to pay to get back to the UK, this may have been because we traveled direct from KS to Heathrow without leaving Bangkok airport.
Had a great time will be posting when catch up on sleep!!

Yes you're right - we had to pay more as we were staying in Bangkok. Pleased you had a good time.

As has been pointed out, International departures from BKK is 500 baht, paid in cash a the airport.

Departure tax for Internal departures is 50 baht and included in the price of an internal ticket.

BUT, if you're flying out of an airport such as Sukhothai, Trat or Samui which is privately owned by Bangkok Airways they hit you for a departure tax of between 200 - 400 baht/head. Flying out of Phuket, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai etc etc you wont have this additional charge to pay as these airports are operated by the Airport Authority of Thailand and not privately.
