Firstly, sorry to hear about your husband & hope that he is now feeling much better 👍

Jet2 appear to be doing everything correctly by offering you your money back or an alternative. They should offer you a hotel of similar standard to what you booked not an inferior.

If, you really want to stay in this hotel & your only option is the unrenovated suite, then, if it was me, I'd want some form of compensation for the inconvenience & disappointment.

Please let us know what their response is.
