Brilliant report Dave and very informative.
We used Qatar Airways this year too and had no problems with them. We normally stay at the MD, but had our own apartment this year. We did pay a visit to the hotel on a few occassions and Edwin was saying the hotel is much quieter than this time last year.
I love Arpora, it was more like India IMO. Some other areas are more tourist built, and I dont like that.

but just read your excellent report, really concise clear and helpful...and its great to hear so many positives. agree about the empty restaurants and little has changed now and we are into January!! ......one thing i will add re Thai Oriental, (i agree its brill) ...but not so if you go in a large group we have found they just cant seem to cope...otherwise excellent place
