We have never been away without our children so I am hoping to surprise my husband for christmas and book us 1 night in a nice hotel. I was thinking of going late January/February, mid week (kids will need less looking after if they are at school), nice hotel with leisure facilities and within 2 hours driving distance of our home (near Sunderland). Our local paper is offering 1 night in 4* hotel, breakfast (and some including evening meal) for £99.95 for two people but they are all too far away. So where do I start, have looked on a few hotel chain websites but found nothing suitable. Can someone point me in the right direction please.
