Pal Marinha, is very quiet as it sits on it's own about a mile form the middle of Calangute, many of the people who stay there have bought their appartments, it has nice grounds (a friend is the gardener there), a nice pool, rooms (I've been in) are good quality, the down side is it's location as you really need to drive everywhere... As it's just too far to walk, although you'd get fit. It's on the main Mapusa - Calangute Road.

We are looking at the Lagao Azul as well, just for a wee change from the Marinha Dourada thats all, but thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Hi Gemma33, we are looking at the Lagoa Azul as well for a change from the Marinha Dourada. We are looking at March 2007 but its not as cheap as it used to be.

I looked at a hotel in Calangute, it was advertised on Sky Travel Shop. Its called Hotel Mira and its only a 1 star. I had never heard of it before. it gets fabulous reviews on the hotel reviews postings in here. It was £509 for 2 weeks flying out 15 April. Thats not too bad. Will keep you posted.

The Mira is just off the roundabout in the middle of Calangute High Street. See if I can direct you to it.
Come from the top of the High Street walking down the road you come to the roundabout with a restaurant called the Rotunda on your left. If you go straight over you are on the road to the steps which takes you onto the beach. To the right is the Baga Road and if you go left you go down "the back lane" - Molly Malones pub is down there - you will find the Mira on the right.
Friends stay there every year - the food is supposed to be very good.
When we go past it about tea time the bar is always busy.
