Been having a good laugh reading your posts!!!! I must say, I thought you were going really easy on Nasher by not mentioning the spelling of your name until now!!! I wondered how long it would take before you said something......maybe you should change to "super bock"

Just think about it,Pat; if I changed my username to Super Bock and Jen mis-spelt that, she'd almost certainly be banned from the forum-( although it could be a lovely compliment !)

Just think about it......take your 100 euros deposit (to be on the safe side) and if it is not needed.......think about the number of Sagres that could join you!!!!!!!!!!! Or should I say......Sarges!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to " basher " I've got to take the extra 100 euros; whether the hotel want it or not, I'm afraid that it's going to go into the Perfume shop at Faro airport on the way home, never to be seen again. 
You could also agree to go "halvers" and get a little extra duty free as well as perfume

Saw it on Sky a few weeks ago - problem is, it's not a "warts & all " view as really it's an advertisement to sell the holiday isn't it ?

True, but it does give you some idea what the place is like. I've e-mailed Thomas cook for more info about the xxxxx problem. still w for a reply. thats if I get one.
How long is the flight? Thomas Cook told me 3hrs 30 mins, but Ive read some reports that say 2 hrs 30mins or does it depend on where you fly from. We are flying from Newcastle airport.

About 2hrs. 40mins from Manchester - should think another 10 - 15 mins from Newcastle.
It's a little premature for you, but, on your return trip ( what a terrible thought this early
) get everything you need at Faro before you go through passport control as there is only a cafe,a cigarette stall and a couple of toilets airside.

I don't know whether you've already tried this, but I've just trawled through all ( yes,all ) the hotel reviews on the Paraiso on H.T.
There are two consecutive posts from July 2004 which mention the 100 euro deposit, but no other mention either before or after this date. Do you think that this may have been a " try-on" by the hotel which resulted in too much stress for the reception staff and was, therefore, abandoned?
From other posts it does seem that the hotel is " deposit - minded ", as there are references to deposits for golf clubs, swimming caps and even remote controls for the air conditioning !!
