Try the Vista Picas in Calan Forcat. Lively resort, very family orientated with loads of entertainment and very good restaurants. The apartments are excellent with a good sized pool area, friendly and close to everything. We went for the first time this year and have already booked for Aug 09. If you like plenty going on, being central and sitting by the pool I guarantee this one is for you.
Have a look at Milanos Pinguinos in Son Bou. Perfect for families
and young children. Hotel is Flintstone themed and lots for kids
to do. Very central within the resort which also has a bowling alley.
Beach is one of best on island and shallow and safe for kids.

I'd recommend Cala'n Bosch. A lovely resort with a good balance of all the elements you need in a holiday. 2 nice beaches, good restaurants situated around a lovely marina and a couple of playparks for the children. Compared to resorts on Majorca and Ibiza, Menorca is fairly quiet but ideal for young families. Cala'n Forcat and Cala'n Bosch are probably the liveliest resorts on the island, I personally prefer CnB. CnF has no beaches really to speak of, but if this doesn't bother you, you may like Vista Picas as Stana suggested. We stayed in Cala'n Bosch at Paradise Club apartments which I can highly recommend, especially as you intend to go in September so they shouldn't be as busy as it was in August when we went. They are literally across the road from the Marina, have a great pool area and plenty going on during the day and night time. Despite them being so close to everything they are very quiet at night. The apartments themselves are spacious and very well equipped with tv with British channels including CBeebies - might come in useful for you!. The other great thing which would be useful for you with your 2 boys is they have a bath with shower over plus a seperate shower cubicle which we really appreciated when getting the 4 of us ready in the evening. Whilst we were there this year we visited many other resorts which were lovely but appeared much quieter, so it depends what you want from your holiday really.
Hope this helps...perhaps you could let us know where else you've been and liked or disliked then it'd help with other recommendations.

I would recommend Calan Bosch as well. We stayed at the Casas Del Lago Apartments and they were fantastic. Perfect location overlooking the marina. About 10 steps to the beach. The pool was fabulous, kept very clean (even after a horrific storm during the night when all the mud was running into the pool. By 11.00am the next morning, you would have never known!).
The only downside with the Casas was the lack of entertainment on an evening. There was a couple of shows but other than that not much going on. We did find that you could visit other hotel/apartments and watch their entertainment though and there is loads going on around the marina during the evening.
