I'm trying to find a suitable hotel right in the centre of Sorrento (within 10mins walk) for next August. Are there any family hotels, suitable for a child of (then) 9. Have had a look through brochures and there arent that many standing out. It must have its own pool, and to cater for Half Board. We have a budget for 2 adults and 1 child of £2000 and to fly preferably from newcastle, or can do manchester. Its for my 40th birthday treat next year so would love to find a nice hotel, any tips or suggestions would be great.

Sorrento is one of those places we get regular questions but no replies for. Your problem with Italy is that the number of package operators has dropped off and you'd probably need to go DIY with such specific requirements. Have you looked at the Villaggio Verde which is a 10-15 minute walk into town. Accommodation is in log cabins (Center Parcs - Italian style). We stayed there about 13 years ago but since then it looks like there has been a lot of work done; ie pool, restaurant, etc.
