That is brilliant - where did you get that from? Many thanks. I have spent hours this evening phoning my friends in Tunisia, Germany and Paris
There's no reason not to now is there?!
thanks again - Jenny

That is brilliant. Someone has recently given me another number for cheap access but this is even better. It does however seem odd that one can phone America cheaper than Tunisia on these plans
Not tu Tnisia but most of the Europe you can call at local rate through:
0845 244 3030
That is about 2p per minute daystime and 1 p per minute evenings/weekends
Thought somoene may find it useful

If you are using bestminutes to call a mobile phone in Tunisia, the call charge is 10p per minute and the access number is 0871 999 63 63, listen to the voice prompt then dial the number using the full access code, followed by the # key.
It's saved me alot of money on phone calls and I haven't found another company to beat their rate, not even Skype with the internet telephony calls.

I've tried using this to call Tunisia and it says the number can't be reached, even though I know it is the right number! it won't work at all from the uk though!
Does anyone know why this might be?

Hi RV
I can't think why you are having this problem. Perhaps try to call later tonight and see what happens.
Also, I have now started using phonecards called "Talk Direct". You can buy these calling cards for £5 from many Asian cornershops. They have 0207 and 0800 access numbers.
If you have free minutes on your mobile then use the 0207 access number and you will get 110 minutes to call a Tunisian mobile, if you use the 0800 number you get around 80 minutes to call a Tunisian mobile.

It says this number cannot be reached when I call using the cheaper calls thing and when I call without it some french woman just speaks and after a while the "this number cannot be recognised" woman cuts her off...
It worked for them to call me when I was in Tunisia! But I never tried callin' them... does anyone know why it won't be workin'? Or has this happened for someone else?
Thanks for the help anyway!

I think I've sussed it .
If it doesn't work with or without the entry code, it sounds as if the mobile you are calling is no longer operational, perhaps because the person has a new phone or number. I've had this happen to me in the past and it is very frustrating when this disconnected voice comes on and jabbers at you in Arabic and French.
I got a Tunisiana SIM when I was out there this time but can't use it over here as it says there is no network coverage! When I tried it the other way round, phoning my Tunisian number from my Vodaphone one, it just says 'network busy'. Goodness knows what the locals do if they bring their own phones over here.

hahah no I thought that maybe... but it worked for about 15 seconds today!
It only worked once on the Sunday when I was away as well...
Also they said they tried to call me but there was no answer, when I hadn't got the calls!!

Curioser and curioser.
Perhaps someone else may have the answer.
I couldn't just leave it there so I've had another look at Best Minutes (who seem to have changed the layout of their site). They are now showing the code for mobiles in Tunisia as 0871 343 1212. It might be worth trying that.
I have been using Best Minutes for almost a year, to call my Tunisian fiance on his mobile. Most times, irrespective of what time I call, I get through immediatly. However, I have had the recorded message of the women saying the lines busy, unavailable or the number is incorrect. Knowing that I have the correct number, I hang up and keep trying-nearly always getting through. Often when I have checked at the other end my fiance says that the phone was neither busy nor broken-so I think it's just a long distance error that happens sometimes.
I also use Best Minutes to call my family in Greece getting through immediatly, acouple of times I have probs but I just hang up, leave for a few mins and try again.
The fact that when my phone bill comes in and I see the financial advantage of useing Best Min, the sometimes inconvieniance is acceptable!

I too have been using Best Minutes to call Tunisa and elsewhere for at least a year. Yes occasionaly the lines do get busy specially on Sunday evenings but it's the cheapest method I've ever found. I have used calling cards in the past and although a better deal than BT on price the service can be poor. Best Minutes wins hands down on price. The number does change from time to time so check the website now and again. The access number I am currently using is 0871 999 7878.

can u get these talk direct fone cards anywhere else as i dont av any asian shops that r local to me.
Hi, i wish to use bestminutes to call my tunisian boyfriend, although the bill holder of my landline is reluctant to allow me to use the landline therefore i have to use my 02 pay&go sim, when i call tunisia direct without using a service such as bestminutes in the past it has cost me £5 for 2 and a half minutes which is VERY expensive. Was just wondering if any knows how much it will charge me if i use my o2 pay&go sim to call tunisia via best minutes. I looked at the frequently asked questions on the best minutes website and it says that calling via their service on a mobile depends on the provider as to cost, however as i only have little credit at the moment was wondering if anyone knew how much it would cost so that i dont have a nasty suprise of an expensive call and then my whole credit will be gone. Hope this makes sense and that someone can help.... Thanks in advance xxxxxx
