assuming you want to go in the main school holiday season 2a+2c with the spec your looking for is going to be tough

the cheapest in Greece i can think of that gets close to what your asking for is the Miro Royal Zante Resort [ignore all hotel reports prior to may this year

but i think it may be a bit over your budget, forget Cyprus far too expensive, if you just want a nice basic 3/4 starr within 15 mins of the beach then there are some deals around to Salou and Cambris only main problem is transfer time as Ryan air no longer fly ro Ruse the nearest airport is Barcalona [hire a car may be cheaper than 4 coach returns and a lot quicker]

edit forgot to say port aventura isa short bus ride away

but what you are basically specifying is a first choice family resort holiday [and this is my daughters last year using them as a 14 night ai for her+hubby +5 year old granddaughter has cost over 4000 this year in august.

if you fancy the miro resort [after doing your research] i do have some photoes that could be sent e-mail to you [but in batches as they are 15mp and take a while to send

best of luck

Hi, thanks for such a quick and helpful reply. For the 1st time, we are actually going to take the kids out of school. My daughter is 10, and will have finished her SATS with a couple of weeks to spare, so we are planning on taking advantage of the last chance to get a better deal out of school holidays (when she starts senior school we would never do it). Hopefully, this changes things a little?

We could, to try to hit budget, drop to 7 nights, rather than 10 of course.....

Thanks again.

Duncan :)

The OP is hoping to go next June wiz, so not during school hols which will make it cheaper :tup If you're wanting a week, you may get what you want just within your budget but I wouldn't think you'd get a 4 or 5 star for that price. I'm no expert on AI so I may be wrong.

Hope you get some positive suggestions.

sorry missed the June bit... but most of what i said should hold true, if you want a resort then it will cost where as a fairly good 3/4 star AI usually works out a lot less,

you can also save a few bob by booking a dynamic package as opposed to a full package, or if you trust yourself DIY

Sorry to be dim, but what exactly is the difference between a resort and a good 3 /4 star?
Regarding the DIY, the last foreign holiday we went on, I sorted myself (booked apartment in Ibiza, booked flights seperately, sorted taxi transfer etc) so I suppose this is an option again this time. Lastly, what is a dynamic package?

Gee, what a beginner I must sound. :duh

Thanks,

Duncan

don't worrie...

a good 3/4 star AI hotel will usually have a dining room for meals, one or two bars, a main and a children's pool
most are located fairly close to a beach, many will have a kids club and animation team [but not all] and some will have evening entertainment

A resort could be one big hotel but is more often 2 or 3 hotels grouped together under one management this will usually offer a choice of places to eat and drink, Have a full kids program many will have extra equipment [water cannon/slides/adventure areas etc.] and usualy have a full evening entertainment program [most holiday makers never leave the confines of a resort hotel]

Hi again,

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me.

I have looked at Holiday Villages. Can't get the link to work, but the one in Tenerife comes in at £2600 for 2 weeks all inclusive., or £1952 for 1 week. So, would seem foolish not to go for the 2 week option, perhaps.

Reviews on trip advisor look pretty good, too.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Duncan

we do not usually do resort hotels, went to the zante royal as a family holiday with daughter /hubby/grandaughter,

I can see the attraction for families with young children [everything there and paid for] and the negatives in that most people will not move off the complex so miss the experience of the holiday,

but that is your choice, i dont have any personal knowledge of Tenerife [im a Greece/Cyprus & Portugal specialist]

I suggest you ask in the Spain - Canary Islands - Tenerife Discussion Forum, where the regulars are usually to be found

hope we can help you find a holiday to enjoy

Hi Dunan32 don't know if FB is of any interest but I just looked at Thomson for 2 adults 2 children June next year and Golden Avenida Suites Hotel which is Salou, Costa Dorada came up just under £1600 10 days but didn't know what airport (sorry if I missed) so put my nearest Gatwick - might be worth a look

My partner and I are looking to go on a cheap holiday (very cheap) but not disgusting or uncomfortable, so air conditioned & reasonably comfy beds , leaving from Glasgow/ priest wick anytime between June 15 - August 25th for over 7 nights but not turkey or Bulgaria preferably above 3* I know that's going to be a difficult one on a tight budget but any ideas ? Thanks to anyone that takes time to read or answer this xx

holiday villages are usually great for the kids with lots to do and kids clubs to give you a break.
we did the one in sharm el shiek which is normally much cheeper than canary islands so maybe check that out..
also tunisia is a good budget holiday for ai...
