Thanks Darren, I'm confused as I've booked row 11 as I was under the impression that they were the exit seats ... have I booked the wrong seats??

cagzy,

Sorry, it's row 11 on the TCX, I was thinking of the TOM! Why can't all airlines use the same seat plans!Row 11 are in pairs, it's row 12 A and F that are extra legoom / medical on the TCX 752's. There's a seat plan with them indicated on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) as well as lots of other information. If you pay for extra legroom seats, that's what you get.

ah thanks Darren! My friend would have killed me if he'd have had to cram his hugely long legs into a standard seat!!! :)

Hi everyone
I'm due to fly LGW to Orlando on the 13th Aug, returning on the 27th Aug. As far as I can tell, the aircraft will be a Thomas Cook A330-300 borrowed from the Scandinavian fleet. The TC website states that this aircraft will be 29" seat ptich throughout, being 3-3-3 in the front 11 rows and 2-4-2 in most of the main cabin. I've got the usual legroom and seat width problems being well over 6ft, so I've paid the extra cost for exit row seats. Does anybody know the specifics of this aircraft (possibly either OY-VKI, OY-VKH or OY-VKG), as I'm now being led to beleive that the first 11 rows actually have a 32" seat pitch. From what I can tell, row 14 seems to be an exit row seat (also being the first row of 2-4-2), but I'm wondering if ths window seats suffer the usual A330 problem of the Exit door life raft impeding the leg-space. Does anybody also know if row 14 still has a window? I'm also assuming that if row 15 has 29" pitch then I'll still end up with somebodies knees in my back anyway! Row 2 seems to be the first row of window seats in the 3-3-3 cabin and also has extra legroom, but will probably be a narrower seat. Does anyone have any personal experience of these seats or this aircraft? Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Airbus A330-300 isn't really borrowed, it's from the Thomas Cook Scandinavian fleet and leased to cover some short haul and long haul flights in the summer months to increase capacity. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) including a link to a seating plan for the aircraft. The aircraft is OY-VKI. Row 14 is at door number 2. The emergency escape slides are located under the door so impede legroom to a certain extent on seats A and K, but if you want lots of room, go for B-H. Seats A and K both have a window. Row 2 is the first outer row, located just behind the toilets. That's why row 1 is in the middle, and the outer column of seats start at row 2, behind a bulkhead. All seats have the same seat width, approximately 16.9 inches apart from the ones at the front of the cabins where the tray tables fold out from the armrest as there isn't a seat infront so they are marginally narrower. I've flown on these aircraft many times including the A340 and every seat is much of a muchness really apart from extra legroom. Seating is always personal preference.

Hi flying TCX314 to Punta Cana tomorrow, any idea what the aircraft is and where it's coming in from?

Should I expect delays from Manchester because of the strikes

MAN-PUJ-MAN (TCX314/5) are operated by a long haul Airbus A330-200. You'll find extensive arcraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). The aircraft comes in from Holguin, Cuba (TCX244/5). OY-VKF operated that flight today so should be your aircraft and it's due back on-time at 0825 in the moring. Have a great holiday :cheers :sun2

Thanks very much, hopefully minimum disruption tomorrow!

Is OY VKF the scandinavia aircraft with less legroom?

It's the leased Thomas Cook Scandinavia Airbus A330-200. It's got the same interior as the long haul TCX UK aircraft, but cloth instead of leather seats. It's the A330-300 (OY-VKI) used on short haul and to Sanford you're thinking of.

oh ok, that's alright then. I'm a tall guy so was worrying. No worries about the cloth interior never really notice the difference.

Sorry for all the questions, but what's happening with premium economy on the outbound leg?

davidrr16,

Premium economy doesn't exist due to tax reasons. It's not an easy answer, but explained on this page.

Hi Darren
Thanks for the impressively quick and detailed reply. Maybe you could answer another couple of questions for me:
So my girlfriend and I are travelling as a couple on OY-VKI to Orlando. If we get seats 14h and K, how restricted will the legroom be on 14k? If it was your decision, would you rather go for row 14 with the emergency slide issue or row 2 with the proximity to the toilet and potentially a bit less elbow room? Do you know whether both rows have overhead bins (I'm guessing row 14 may not but I think row 2 does) and whether the flight attendents have a jump seat in front of these rows? The other thing I like to consider is the seat pitch of the row behind me. As a person who always suffers with the lack of seat space myself, I try my best not to impede on the people behind me when reclining. Do you know what the seat pitches for rows 3 and 15 are? Sorry for asking so many questions, but I tried to get this info from TC and they seemed quite reluctant to advise.
Best regards
Rob

Skippyfuzz1,

Everyone will perceive things differently. The encroachment isn't excessive in my view and still gives plenty of room. I'd certainly be happy enough sitting in 14K for 10+ hours. I've sat in worse for 14 hours! It's not my decision so not really up to me to say either way really. Seating is always personal preference and if you ask 10 people, you'll probably get 10 different answers. From experience, I would stay clear of rows around toilets due to constant traffic and passengers queuing in the isles, noise of flushing etc, but that's just me. All rows have overhead bin space although emergency equipment is located at the front of the cabins so you may not have enough room immediately over you head, you may have to use the one adjacen or behind but it's still within easy reach. You won't be permitted to put bags under seats during take-off and landing. Seat pitch for rows in the forward cabin is 32". The centre and rear cabins are 29". Personally, I don't recline my seat during the flight in respect of those behind me. The exception is on overnight flights if the person behind is asleep so it won't effect them. The trick is to look behind before reclining. Customer services don't always have specific aircraft information, they know about holidays. There's loads of information on our What Aircraft? guide including seat plans, aircraft and cabin photos.

We are flying out from Manchester to Sanford on 22 Jul flight TCX224, inbound 05 Aug flight TCX225. I have a few queries.

Have been online and reserved seats 4A 4B 4C 4D and 4F. Now, is this right, what happened to E? We are a family of 2 ad & 3 children so wanted to be together. Also, in your opinion are these seats ok?

On the Thomas Cook site it says that pushchairs and car seats (to go in hold) are free for infants under 2, but over the age of 2 for pushchairs the weight comes out of your baggage allowance; we are not taking a pushchair but want to take a car seat and it doesnt say about that for over 2s. we only have 15 kg each :( Our son aged 5 does need a booster seat on way to Man airport and in USA. Do they actually take this out of the allowance, cant remember doing that before with our older children.

Talking of baggage allowance, if we paid to increase would we have to increase all 5 passengers allowance or could we just increase one?

Also, I heard that the airline hire psp's for the flight as it does not have seat back ife. How would we go about doing that for our 5 yr old?

Sorry for the list of questions but here's hoping you can answer some! Thank you.

MAN-SFB-MAN (TCX224/5) are operated by an Airbus A330-300. The forward cabin is configued 3-3-3, the centre and rear 2-4-2 so there isn't an 'E' seat up front. The seats are together though, ie D and F. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) including seat maps, aircraft and cabin photos. Seating is personal preference but those in the forward cabin have 3" more seat pitch so the ones you're looking at are fine. The booster seat will be taken from your baggage allowance as it's not essential for travel. PSP's are no longer available. The aircraft has mainscreen IFE located above the isle. A link to the current inflight magazine is on our What Aircraft? guide with current listings. You'll just need to register with Ink Publishing to view it. When you increase baggage allowance, it aplies to all those under the same booking reference. You can pool your allowance though.

Wow, that was quick! Thank you very much! :D
Would you happen to know whether we could do on-line check in? I'm sure we have done that before in the past?

Thomas Cooks do not have online check in for USA flights.
