I just want to say how good the crew and Capt were on our return flight from Sharm -on a brand new 737 :-)
We had a 1hr 10 min delay coming back making the the crew out of hours, still they put up with us for a return 6 hr journey.
The Capt stood in the gantry before take off and used to P.A system to apologise to us all for the delay, a nice touch.
He also communicated with much more on this leg but, one small issue, the volume of the speakers when the pilots address the cabin is pathetic.
All in all, a great airline, thanks.

Hi I am flying to Sharm from Man on TOM894 this wednesday what time does the check in desk open please?

bluemoon,

Approximately 4 hours before your departure time. There's no need to get to the airport early as seating is pre-allocated the day before. The recommended check-in time is 2 hours before for short / mid-haul flights and 3 hours for long haul. Bear in mind it's getting busy at the airport now though so you might want to add a little extra time for queues at check-in and security.

Hi Im am thinking of booking a flight to Lanzarote for next thursday from Manchester flight nr TOM 2468, do you know what aircraft this will be on?

Also the flight above was listed at nearly £200 return yesterday it is now at £96 return! i am obviously not complaining but I wanted to fly there and back on Monarch so I could be on the same flight as my girlfriend (she has already booked) the Monarch flight is about £170 return at the moment, do you know if there is any chance this price will suddenly drop like the Thomson flight price?

cheers

The hoary old subject of luggage allowance (again!!)
I've booked a holiday to Kenya for October this year - got a good price for Premium upgrade as there weren't any extra space seats available/left.
The web site when I booked said that you get 23kgs hold allowance (I've checked by doing a mock booking this am) - but when printing off the documentation I 've just noticed that the email confirmation lists 20kgs allowance. Furthermore the email states 5kgs hand luggage vs the web site which says 7kgs !!
Now I thought that the "old" Premium flight allowances were being maintained when other baggage changes were made earlier this year.
Can anyone confirm that the email is incorrect??? :que

brewerdave,

I had the same thing earlier this year when I booked Premium. I emailed the travel agent who confirmed in writing that the higher allowances were valid and I kept the email just in case, but when I picked the ticket booklet up the other day all was OK.

Hopefully you'll get the 23kg without any hassle!

buzzer14,

Current 787-8 Dreamliner information is on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). The first is due in Hune 2012 and will be used on short / medium haul for a few months for crew familiarity then start on long haul from November 2012, subject to any further delays. I don't think Cancun will be one of the first destinations it's used on, but I think that is yet to be decided.

james 84,

MAN-ACE-MAN (TOM2468/9) are operated by a Boeing 767-304/ER (short haul / winglets). Flight prices fluctuate based on demand and supply so they may or may not fall depending on current demand. It's imposable to predict.

brewerdave,

You should get the 23 / 7 allowance but I'd email or call just to get confirmation.

brewerdave,
the baggage allowance depends on when you booked and the brochures that were being used at that time.
If you booked from the first edition of the summer 2011 brochures then the baggage allowance is 23kg.
This changed to 20kg when the second editions were published.
So, even though the website and current brochures do say 20kg, Thomson will automatically honour the baggage allowances valid on the day you made your booking.

Hope that helps.

Premium economy is still 23kg hold and 7kg hand luggage. I enquired about this myself a few months ago and got an email reply.

Changes will come into affect for all customers who book a holiday from 16th December 2010 departing after 1st May 2011. Bookings that have been made prior to this date will remain unaffected and the original allowance will be honoured. Customers who have booked Thomson and First Choice standard packages, including splash and kids club products will now receive a hold luggage allowance of 15kg. Customers who have booked Premier holidays with First Choice and Thomson will now receive a luggage allowance of 20kg rather then 23kg and for customers who have booked from our Small and Friendly, Gold, Holiday Villages, Thomson Families, Chic and Unique, Simply, Thomson Villas & Pools, Faraway Shores, Florida and Tropical products will all remain unaffected and will receive a 20kg complimentary allowance. For customers who book premium seating on their flight they will still be entitled to a luggage allowance of 23kg.

A friend's hubby tried to pre-book seats last night for their Thomson trip to Cuba and the system showed that their seats had already been allocated and it would cost them £50 return to change them. They don't fly until the 21st July :que I've never heard of seats been allocated this far in advance. Does anybody know if this is standard now?

I think seats are automatically allocated. Not sure at what point in time though, but obviously more than 90 days before the flight, because then you can pick your own. They can be changed but the cost is £25 per person to select seats on longhaul, whether done at time of booking, or as an add on at a later date.

but if they've automatically allocated seats to everybody already, there won't be many seats left for people to buy :que

If they've only been allocated by Thomsons computer, and not paid for, you can swap your allocated seats for someone else's allocated seats. Only the one's that have been paid for can't be changed.
I always ring the airline to book my seat numbers. I know others who do it online and have already had seats allocated when they check the seating plan, so if they don't like them, they swap them. That is my understanding of it, but could be wrong.

OK so turning this on it's head then - if I look, and see I've been allocated tidy seats and hubby & I are sitting together, I could look again next week and be sitting elsewhere, because someone's paid for my original ones :que If that's the case, If I don't want to pay, I won't really know where I'm sitting until the day before :think
