yes, sharon, we know it is illegal but still it is a norm and i have not seen anyone being bothered about it.
as i said, we have been there before and observed many european topless ladies. however, we did not notice a single indian topless. but that was 12 years ago. the new indian generation is different now. so i was curious to know, if there are other indian topless women around so that my wife will not feel out of place. otherwise, as you advise, we will find a secluded beach.
btw, where is morgim and ashven. i m unable to find them on any website. are they located in north or south goa??
thnx for your reply.

:) I've never seen a topless indian woman. I know a lot of British/European women that do not go topless in respect to the custom/people- I only do if I've had too many beers and roll onto my front by mistake!! You are very likely to get gawped at, even photographed by male indian tourists!!

Ashish,

I do not know if this helps, but three years ago I met a Indian woman (who was in her 20s and lived in the UK).

She said that she encountered a lot of attention from Indian men even though she wore a bikini. At one point she and a friend were chased along the beach.

She also experienced problems at the hotel with the hotel manager and waiters. So she had to give up sitting around the pool.

She said that Indian men had problems with seeing Indian women uncovered. I think what hurt her the most is that she was called the 'w' word by several men.

Admittedly, she was with a female friend and not a husband.

Come to think about it, I have never seen an Indian lady sunbathing anywhere, topless or otherwise, I have seen many using a parasol to keep the sun off their fair skin, or when swimming have knee to neck swimwear.

Quite right Les
An Indian Lady would never consider sunbathing,a fair complexion is prized and much sort after and there are many lotions and potions on sale to achive this in India.
Most Indians only venture onto the beach as the sun is settng to avoid any chance of a suntan.
have you ever seen a dark skinned bollywood star?

well you will be surprised. i saw a few indian women topless in las palmas a couple of years back on a public beach. of course, almost everyone is topless there. also, saw them at the hotels.

also, on our last vacation to koh samui (thailand), there were a few indians and a couple of them dared to go topless in the hotel though i did not see them topless at public beaches.

i thought maybe the women have become more daring in places like goa where toplessness is quite a norm.

yeah, being photographed is a nuisance and with the advent of digital cameras, one cannot do anything.

the last thing i want is my wife's topless photos to be splashed on a porno site.

thanks for your comments everybody.

I have seen quite a few Indian ladies topless, One year we stayed at the Adelia Santa Rita, and there were 5 indian families staying there, I was amazed that they were sunbathing around the pool topless, I thought good on them, for doing it, I sopose it all comes down to how liberal there husbands are.

thanks for all your comments once again.
we will be arriving in goa on 25th for a week.
yes, topless bit is scary in goa, so we have bought a couple of modest swimming costumes for the wife while we go to the beach.
we hope to get some privacy together and not get chased by males.

We've just come back from Candolim and every day we saw an elderly couple walking along the beach, both wearing thongs (yes he was too) and she was topless, made us chuckle and we weren't the only ones, many a bemused look passed between the folks on the sun loungers....

Re the last post, this couple have been a fixture over the last few years, no matter when we go they show up at the same time and walk from Candolim to near the steps at Calangute and back. I have to admire their style, the way they saunter along reminds me of someone sauntering along the boulivards of Paris, they seem oblivious to the stares of other, we imagine them to be French but more than likely they come from somewhere like Wigan (not that I've anything against Wigan) Mabey someone on the forum could solve the problem for us as we've wondered about their nationality for years Alan

I sunbathe topless everywhere, but I wouldn't dream of doing it in Goa, it's just not the done thing!

Yep they're the ones!! I had imagined they might be German or maybe Scandanavian...

I know the ones you mean as well

A few years ago the blokes thong was a very vivid green

We sat behind them one day but still couldn't work out what nationality they were

This year they are both sporting pale blue ones....

Hi
We were in Goa in February 2006 and loads of people were topless on Candolim Beach, mainly English and Eastern European.

With the exception of a few young girls/ladies, it was not a pretty sight.
There was one lady of advanced years who went topless and wore a tiny thong - it put me off my Dhal Fry (almost) :yikes .

Just come back from Cancun and didn't see anyone topless there.
