Hi there,
Can anyone out there help me? We're off to Mykonos the first week in October and my husband fancies a day or overnight trip to another island.
1) What island would you recommend?
2)Is accommodation easily available?
3)Is it best to use the hydrofoil or ferry?
4)Any info on the price and timings?
We've been to Santorini and Delos and would prefer somewhere different.

1) Almost certain possibilities: Tinos, Andros, Paros, Naxos, Ios.
Out of those marginally preferable would be Naxos, Ios would actually be a good choice in October as it does quieten down a lot.
Possibilities if there are ferries: Ikaria, Samos.
Out of them I would choose Ikaria, not the ports of Ag. Kirikos or Evdilos but Armenistis on the north coast, to do any justice to Samos you need at least a week or more.
2) In October accommodation will be no problem approx 25€/night.
3) There are no hydrofoils in the Cyclades islands... replaced by hi-speed catamarans. Excursion boats 'go the other way' (to Delos). You need to look at the ferry timetables to see if excursions to other islands are possible, most likely you will have to stay on the island of your choice.
4) Consult the ferry agents in Mykonos, for an idea look at Greek travel pages here.
