Virgin operates out of Heathrows Terminal 3. VS400/1 are operated by an Airbus A340-600. Refer to our What Aircraft? thread for more details. Refer to Heathrows website regaring the Servisair Lounge, it's normally £19.99. Refer to the Heathrow Airport thread for more airport information.

Virgin to suspend Mumbai services
Virgin Atlantic is temporarily suspending flights from London Heathrow to Mumbai from early May.
The airline said passenger numbers on the route have been falling for many months, even before the global economic slowdown.
It said over capacity on the route meant other airlines are operating "irrationally" and servicing the route at a loss.
The airline said it would reinstate the service when it is economically viable to do so.
The last flight will be VS350 on Saturday May 2 from London Heathrow and flight VS351 on Sunday May 3 from Mumbai.
Virgin will continue to operate its daily service between London Heathrow and Delhi and said it would explore flying to other Indian cities in future.

Could anyone offer any advice which is the better or less favoured seats on the Airbus A340-600 and the A340-300 in Virgin Upper Class?
Flying to Washington and back from LAX with Virgin later on in the year and although i've flown upper before I have never had a choice of seat(can't complain for free) But this time I am paying and want the best for my hard earned money.

Hi Ann ... I'm glad that you were able to read the news and secure alternative flights while there was still some availability with another carrier. Disappointing though that you were not made aware by Virgin.

Flying with Virgin to Orlando - we have got the twilight checkin the night before - does anyone know if we would still need to pre-book our seats or should we be OK to get 4 seats relatively together by checking in the night before? Do you have to pay to pre-book - I know some airlines charge and some don't - its our first time to fly with Virgin. Thanks
Yes!
The pre request (its not a booking, as its is only a request) of seats is the best way to get seats together. It costs nothing.
all you need to do is go to the VA web site and put in your lead name and the booking reference (ends with /S09 or /W09) and you can pre request.
If you leave it to Twilight checkin all the best seats will have been reserved (of course this depends on how full you flight is, what are your dates and flight number?)

We are not going until next year 29/03/2010 - I think its flight no. VS027 or 28 - when would I need to prebook them as its over 12 months to go.
Thanks
Thanks
Well,
If booked direct with Virgin Atlantic, its 336 days from the date of your return flight.
There is a big discussion over when you can pre reqest your seats if booked through Virgin holidays or another travel agent.
Some are being told that you cannot pre request untill just before, others have been able to pre request at the 336 day mark.
The seat map is not yet available for your flight, it will appear at 330 days

Hi there, I'm flying from LHR to LAX (VS007) on 21st July. The VA website says the aircraft is a 747-400 but the vflyer website says it's an A340-600.
Can anyone confirm?
Many thanks.

bobeyman,
LHR-LAX-LHR (VS007/8) are showing as a Boeing 747-400 on my screen. VS023/4 are an Airbus A340-600.

Thank you very much, looks like the vflyer website is wrong, unless it's to do with the winter/summer schedule.
