give Corralejo in Fuerteventura a try, you may be suprised. As for Windy ?? a breeze yes, i wouldnt call it a wind.

All the Canaries are very nice. I only could advise on resorts I have visited, so in order of the best here goes.

Lanzarote - Puerto Del Carmen . Has everything, went there last year really nice resort with loads of shops, bars and restaurants. Will suit all ages.

Fuerteventura - Corralejo. This may be the one for you for a family holiday, on the negative side it is still a developing resort and I beleive there is a lot of building work going on at the moment. You may need to do some research this may not affect you in anyway, but this resort does have everything you need, you shouldnt be bored. Here you will find the best beach in the Canaries.

Tenerife - Los Cristianos. Outside the lively Las Americas, this is more laid back, I have not been here for a few years, but when I did go this was the resort you must visit, loads of ammenties.

Gran Canaria - Puerto Rica. I personally would not return here. Beautiful picturesque resort, very impressive how it is built, but I was not a fan of the man made shopping complex, which is basically the resort centre, I prefer to venture around resorts. I can not comment on anywhere else in Gran Canaria, but I suspect Playa del ingles will be far too lively for a family holiday. You may need to post here.

these are just my personal opinions on the places I have been to.
