My husband and I had a great time at this hotel; we stayed in a deluxe studio on a self-catering basis.
The room was much larger than we expected and had all the facilities we needed for self-catering including washing up liquid and wash cloth and t towels. In the bathroom they provided shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and hand lotion, there was also an iron and ironing board.

The maid service was great clean towels every day, bed made and they even washed up. There was an i-pod docking station and the air con and celling fans were the best we have experienced anywhere. The deco is a little dated but there was lots of clothes storage space and it was spotlessly clean.

They provided us with a beach towel each and every day you could trade it in for a clean one at the beach hut on the beach.

We had breakfast at Lanterns restaurant and a couple of evening meals and the food was great and reasonably priced in comparison to restaurants in the gap. All the staff were brilliant, from the bell boys, reception, and bar staff.

The grounds were kept beautiful and staff were constantly cleaning the pools. There were three pools, one with a swim up bar, one that you could exercise in and one that had waterfalls in. There was only entertainment 3 times a week and the bar closed at 11pm which was a bit of a pain as when you came back from having a meal of an evening you could only get a drink if you had some in your room, I don’t know if this was because September is the quiet season or if it’s like this all year round.

The restaurant Lanterns and Watersedge are right on the beach but again only Lanterns was open during our stay. The gym was fantastic and my husband used it every day. They had a great guest’s room that you could use on your last day as you have to check out by 11am.

We tried to pay to keep our room on but it was booked, so I was initially disappointed but when I saw the guest room I changed my mind. It has 2 showers comfortable chairs a TV and a cold water fountain. It was everything you need to make the most of your last day and get ready for your return journey.

They also had a great games room. The activities desk were really helpful and sorted out all our trips and car hire and booked restaurant tables for us without adding on extra costs. We would definitely return to this hotel.

We stayed here for the second week of our holiday. Loved the hotel. We were upgraded to a deluxe studio with a plunge pool at the end of the balcony. Large room with plenty storage space, lounge area with a settee and chair, and table. Also had a kitchen table and chairs. Had everything for selfcatering, including micro. Bathroom was also large. There is an iron and board which is handy. Safe in room too.
The complex is beautiful and well maintained. A number of pools including one for children. There were 2 restaurants but we only had lunch as a takeaway- these were good as well. The beach is great- soft sand and very clean. There were actually 2 sections of beaches - one was small and quiet.
They have a handy courtesy lounge for late check outs with shower facilities. We didn't use it as we paid to keep our room.
The only drawback is that to eat out at night needed a taxi. But its a short trip and didn't bother us too much. This is our 4th trip to Barbados and is the best hotel yet. We would return.

Have just returned from an excellent weeks holiday staying at the Bouganvillea Beach Resort.

We stayed in a Deluxe studio which came with it's own plunge pool on the patio.

Located on the beach, staff were friendly and helpful.

What more can you ask for?

We stayed at the Bougaivillea Hotel for a week prior to a cruise. The hotel is in a fairly isolated position. It is not far from restaurants etc in a taxi but I wouldnt recommend walking anywhere at night.

The hotel building and the grounds are very attractive and are situated directly on a beautiful beach.

The rooms are furnished in typical Caribbean style, lots of pinks, blues and greens, they are very pretty and clean. There is lots of wardrobe and drawer space and the bathrooms are spacious.

The staff were civil and polite but not particularly friendly.

The Lanterns restaurant was very basic with plastic chairs and tablecloths. It was more like a cafe than a restaurant.Breakfasts were ok, nothing special.

If there was any entertainment we didnt see it.

The rooms at this hotel are large and spacious complete with smallish kitchen area (did not use except for kettle) but extremely useful large fridge. The bathroom is quite large with hairdryer on wall and fresh towels daily if required. The bedroom, queen size bed large wardrobes took all our clothes plus suitcases this is where the safe is kept (it's free) also the iron and board. Sitting area has TV, mostly U.S news channels and old films, a sofa and armchair coffee table etc, then out to the patio area table 4 chairs and a lounger. Everything is kept really clean and tidy by friendly staff.

Although we were on a b&b basis (by the way the breakfasts were great more than enough to keep you going until late dinner,) we also ate the hotel twice and found the food was really nice but is served warm rather than hot also found this to be the norm everywhere we ate good value for money.

The hotel is right on the beach. Water sports are available, jet skis are great $50 U.S. for half hour but you can take two people on for that.

The pool and surrounding area was clean and tidy and also offered a bar with friendly if a little slow barman but everyone in Barbados takes it easy.

Entertainment was on twice a week but we chose to go out to St Lawrence gap $12 U.S for a cab

We have just come back from a 2 week vacation at the Bougainvillea and therefore will try and give an up-to-date, honest opinion on the resort.

Accommodation -We stayed in studio

Plus points - nice, spacious, good views (well from where we were anyway).

Negative - Our maid did a reasonable job but not what we've come to expect from 4* hotels. Toilet kept blocking despite trying not to flush too much toilet paper. We were without water for 28 hours due to something to do with the water pressure - wouldn't have been too bad but I had a seriously upset stomach and well you can work the rest out for yourself!

Hotel - General

Plus points - Location is excellent if you like peace and quiet but only a stone's throw from the action. The beach is beautiful! The sea can get a little rough cause this is where the Atlantic and Caribbean meet but we really enjoyed playing in the waves. It's a nice small, quite personal resort and wasn't too overcrowded. Gym facilities were very good and the lounge provided for a shower after you've checked out is excellent!

Negatives - The pool wasn't the cleanest in the world but as we spent most of the time on the beach this wasn't too much of a problem for us.
Only one person working the pool bar (normally) so when that happy hour bell rings you can be waiting for quite some time to get served. And by no means order anything to eat from the pool bar! We ordered a couple of burgers and they took over an hour to come! This actually put us off eating in the hotel restaurant at all.

Overall - We had a terrific holiday but let's be honest it is Barbados and you would be extremely hard pushed to have a bad holiday wherever you stay! I would rate the resort as 3* - 3*plus maximum. It's a great base and you can make your holiday as quiet or a hectic as you like from there. Looking at some of the other hotels in the area I would say it appears to be the better one.

Have a good time and hope this has helped.

2 Couples stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was adequate for our needs.

The apartment consisted of a large living room with pull out sofa bed, adequate storage T.V. etc. It also contained a kitchen area which to me was very spacious, large Belfast sink, extra large american fridge, granite breakfast bar and high stools various cupboards containing utensils etc.

Bathroom dual sinks excellent shower over bath lots of good quality towels soaps, shampoo, tissues all provided.
Bedroom contained large queen bed, white furniture, good wardrobe space but could have been bigger. Lovely french windows which opened to allow in very welcome breeze.

Apartment also had large balcony with four chair table and two sunloungers, very comfortable beautiful view of sea and pool area.

Sea a little rough, beach loungers with umberalla plentiful, lovely swimming pool with swim up bar able to walk into St Lawrence gap from here along beach but not encouraged to do so at night very, very dark.

Staff cater mainly for American market, found them a little abrupt at times, entertainment on sight not great, food expensive as we found everywhere in Barbados.

Would go back but would like to try other parts.
