I agree with Steve from Eniskillen's posting; this is a terrible hotel in no way worthy of it's 4 star rating.

Our room was filthy, huge stains on the carpet, rust and mildew in the bathroom, stains on the wall. We asked to be moved, but were told very rudely it wasn't possible.

The staff were incredibly rude and very pushy, not friendly at all.

I cannot fault the outside area with the pool and gardens, nor the location, but I disliked this hotel so much I spent as much time as possible out of it, and didn't even stay to eat the meals I'd paid for!

Aloe Hotel has lots of Award Certificates but these all relate to 1997/8 which is probably when this was a truly 4* hotel. Now in need of major refurbishment as fixtures and fittings are getting quite tatty. In ideal location 5 mins from Triangle with lots of bars and restaurants, 10mins to Bar Street for clubs, and a further 10mins to Harbour Area.

Plenty of sunbeds around both pools, however, those in the rear garden area can be quite tatty. The pool towel system works quite well, but don't expect to return them after 4:30 when the poolman disappears to start resetting the sunbeds. Although the pool is supposed to be open until 1900hrs, he does indeed get very ratty if you're still around after 6pm.

Room cleaning was basic, balcony was never touched. Hairdryer and air conditioning worked well, TV didn't, and hot water went off completely for one night. Very yucky trying to wash waterproof suncream off in cold water.

Didn't eat in hotel apart from breakfasts - if they ran out of something, more would be brought if you asked. We departed at 4am, and were given early continental breakfast on a tray.

Saturdays are given over to Cypriot Weddings and you do feel second-best to them then.

Whilst it's not a hotel I'd return to or recommend, it's not one that'll ruin your holiday.

The hotel was kept very clean and the staff were friendly.

The rooms were of ample size with plenty of space in the wardrobes and drawers for an average couples clothes.

Unless you are a very fussy eater there was a good selection of items at breakfast ranging from cereals, cold and hot buffets and fruit, and the usual fruit juices and tea or coffee.

There was entertainment in the hotel most nights ranging from Karaoke, Disco, and live music. The hotel was within 2 minutes of some bars and for the young ones under 60 'bar street' was only about a 15 mins walk with the harbour about another 10 mins further on.

As we favoured the beach which was a 2 minute walk away I cannot comment on the pool area although from observation the sun loungers appeared to be too close together and you had to be down early to book the best locations at the pool.

As this was our first visit to the ALOE my wife Sylvia and I would certainly recommend it.

We had booked a twin room as we were told by our travel agent there were no double rooms available. As this room had an interconnecting door we could hear the amorous couple on one side and the giggling drunks on the other! There was also a regular event of people coming back in the early hours of running noisily down the corridor to their rooms and banging their doors, hilarious.

Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the sea, albeit over an ugly roof, ugly pipes, car park, ugly scrub land and a very busy main road, this meant it was one of the un-refurbished rooms with the balcony doors not fitting properly leading to a lot of road noise. The beds although comfortable did have hard pillows which only added to my being kept awake all night by the above mentioned.

The air-conditioning was noisy but did not contribute to the overall theme of my being kept awake and was very welcome in the extreme heat. After our first week and 7th sleepless night I asked to be moved and was immediately given a double room! And was asked why I had waited a week before complaining! As our new room was one of the refurbished it meant our second week did not have any of the disturbances of the first week. Do get a safety deposit box, don

Clean hotel, nice location just a short walk to all amenities, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, but not like we have in england, wasnt keen on boiled eggs, but it was adequate.

Just up the road was a fantastic sandwich bar and bakery, good value for your money there. And the English woman couldnt have been more helpful. plenty of good restaurants in the area, had no complaints other than the mad drivers... will be booking up to go again next year.

This was a pleasant enough hotel, but I would not give it a 4 star rather a definite 3.

We had a seaview room on the 3rd floor and though we could see over to the fort at the harbour of Paphos and watched the glorious sunsets it was not worth "Thomson's" price of

The pool view room which we asked for was very disappointing as we overlooked the roof of the Paradise Bar and all its ducting and pipe work. We could only see the very end of the swimming pool and bar. Nevertheless the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We had already heard about the rip off with the fridge pricing so did not use it at all. The air conditioning was needed although we found it to be exceptionally noisy in our room.

The breakfasts were delicious and waiters very good. There were only a few problems, one being that the tables were too close together. It could also get very crowded and queues would form at the toasting machines, which for some reason were put together in a corner of the room. The tea was the usual quality of the Med hotels, insipid even after adding an extra tea bag.

The pool areas and gardens were lovely. The poolside bar good and the staff in this area very friendly. As usual people were reserving sunbeds, I spotted some people putting towels on sunbeds at 7.00 a.m when I awoke early one morning. We always managed to get a sunbed but I should think it could be difficult in the height of the season. We also thought that the poolside bar could have been used more, it was in a good location and would it would have been nice to have a drink outside in the evenings. It shut at 5.30 p.m.

The entertainment at the hotel was mediocre, we tried it for a few evenings. Some people complained that the bar where it took place was too cold. Having travelled abroad for over 20 years and experiencing hotel prices we thought that The Aloe Hotel's alcoholic drinks were to expensive, in fact twice the price of some of the local bars and not so strong.

The lounges and Reception were well kept and cool. The Staff were very helpful.

A short walk from the hotel is one of the municipal beaches with sunbeds and umbrellas. This is quite small but makes for a change and the sea is clean and there were no stones to cross to get into it.

We hired a car, which is a must as there is so much to see. There are beautiful beaches to the South at Avdhoumi and Pissouri. The Northern coast is also very pretty. The roads are excellent.

We have just returned from 14 nights on B&B in the Aloe Hotel in Paphos.
We have visited this Hotel many times before so we knew what to expect.
About 3 weeks before we were due to arrive we emailed them and asked for a specific room that is in a nice position with a good view

We stayed at the Aloe Hotel on a B&B basis and breakfast was self service, with plenty of choice and of a high standard. Friends of ours who stayed half board said that whilst the evening meals were very good, they became repetitive on a two week stay.
The hotel boasts a huge and very clean, comfortable reception area. The staff we found to be friendly and very helpful, nothing was to much trouble.
Standard rooms were very clean and of a resonable size for couples, but a third bed would have made the room a little cramped. The air conditioning included in the price, was good and a must in August.
The entertainment left a lot to be desired, only 2 nights out of the 14 were any good.
The two swimming pools are brilliant, with towels supplied, but sunbeds were hard to come by, unless you were prepared to rise very early to secure one.
The only real down side to the hotel is that at weekends, they host local wedding receptions of which there are plenty during high season and they seem to take priority over paying guests. Beware also the with these receptions come a lot of cars and during this time we had trouble finding some where to park our hire car.

We stayed on B&B basis which was excellent as there are loads of restaurants within easy reach of the hotel.

The main bar strip is 15 minutes walk from the hotel with excellent nightlife for everyone,on the walk to the centre you pass many restaurants and shops,or if you turn left out of the hotel and walk for 5 minutes you will find a wide selection of shops, bars and restaurants.

The hotel is fantastic and very clean although the hotel is 4 Star it is not snobby and you are made to feel very welcome nothing is to much trouble for the hotel staff.

All public areas are air conditioned and decorated to a high standard. We did not eat in the hotel at night or sample the entertainment but many people did, I heard not bad comments.

we would definitely visit this hotel again, we would recommend a pool view room and b&b basis. It was our first visit to Paphos but will definitely not be our last!
