The complimentary orange juice on arrival was a nice touch, as was having your luggage taken to your room.

Room - a little glitch with our room when we arrived but this was sorted out the next day. Room was small and basic and the bathroom was very dated but clean.

Food - plentiful, lots of choice, always pleasant staff in the dining room.

Gardens and the beach were lovely and it was good being able to get around on the local buses or taxis.

We had the bonus of good weather for January.

We always looked forward to afternoon tea and cakes - which is only for Thomas Cook and all inclusive guests.

The TV only had one English language channel - Sky News! We expected more from a 4 star hotel.

I would stay there again but do not think it warrants a 4 star rating.

We went to this hotel on our honeymoon. The first week was OK. Food good, entertainment good, room small and when we asked for upgrade the receptionist was rude.

The entertainment staff were very good but perhaps a bit to over the top. The second week we started to hear about people from the hotel going to hospital for either gastroenteritis ear infections which was worrying.

Since coming home we have found out that due to lack of cleaning and dirty pools a lot of people have been diagnosed with a very serious bowel infection due to this hotel.

The food served was superb from breakfast through to the evening meal good selection always available.

Our room was fine cleaned daily and the air conditioning was a god send and worked without a hitch.

The location of the hotel is good, a 10min walk to the harbour at Paphos.

Staff in the hotel were great never had any problems communicating with them even though there are numerous nationalities on duty, a simple smile helps too.

The animation team are superb they work their socks off all day &night and their results are great.

I read various reports about this hotel saying it was way below par, sorry but you got it wrong it is superb and would not hesitate to return. It is obviously better when the children are back at school and more appreciative holiday makers visit foreign shores.

Our 3rd stay at the ledra over a 5 year period and sadly standards have slipped somewhat.

RECEPTION-on check in/out very efficient but not very friendly, the chairs are stained from people using them straight from the pool, twice witnessed the manager berate people for this ( nice bloke the manager but a lot more stressed than in previous visits) the waitresses work hard and are friendly you never have to wait to long for service.

ROOMS-Never one to moan to much as you only really need it for storage and sleeping, but still they are in need of a refurb, there seemed to be half as many maids as previous visits so the standard of cleaning had dropped, the pool towels are 5cyp each refundable deposit exchanged at reception every 2 days and are shabby to say the least infact all the towels and linen are from the Louis reign of 3 years ago.

POOL- Ok, same depth all round 1.4mtrs,also the adult pool and kids pool seemed ok,sunbeds hmmm we moan about the Germans,us brits are worse me included, 2 reasons to get up at 6.30 or midnight as a few did, 1, to get a prime location 2,to sort the unbroken ones and the litter first thing in the morning is quite amazing.

ENTERTAINMENT-They worked hard with limited resources not to pushy and willing to chat, not my kind of thing but each to there own,the evening stuff seemed to me to start to late in the outdoor theatre maybe because we ate at 7 finished by 8 and then had a couple of ours to kill before the main show at 10, if i'm honest the only show i really enjoyed was the hynotist but again plenty seem to enjoy the shows so i'd be wrong to put them down, oh apart from the raffle of course, 90% of the prizes were booze, odd when there is a free bar 100 yards away and they do like to flog a tee shirt or two'still can't knock em for that, the wages can't be great.

FOOD/BARS-For me probably the best thing there now breakfast, lunch and dinner yes a little repetative after two weeks but well prepared you should not go hungry here they have a dress code sort of but i'll get to that later. The bars generally nice people but some seem to struggle if you ask for something other than keo(beer)(don't say lager as that throws them) or a standard soft drink, i had to explain twice on how to make a rum and black, and the vodka and orange is not a pleasant experience

BEACH-Is ok but be very carefull entering the water some sharp rocks and sudden drops, once out to swimming depth you can see plenty of fish, would only advise strong swimmers and would keep kids away, watersports centre there is good to.

So my twopennies worth well you only have to read the reviews on this and all the other review sites to notice that 2/3 years ago you struggle to find a bad review on the ledra, now they seem to be creeping in on a regular basis, why well you can blame iberostar for lack of investment for a start, they really need to put their hands in their pockets, because in my humble opinion the ledra can no longer be rated a 4 star hotel, you can blame the management team for failing to apply their own rules like why display no shorts in restaraunt and post leaflets under every room door and then let tom dick and harry stroll in unquestioned, same can be said of no glasses/plates around the pool area but again this is unchallenged.

They also seem to be making a bid for the guiness book of world records for weddings in 2 weeks we witnessed 29 all very pretty and great for a nose but a bit a tedious after awhile the large groups don't help especially when you notice quite a few are non-residents being supplied food and drink, good luck to them i suppose because i ain't got the front for it.

But just as responsible as iberostar and the management team are us the clients for its us the guests that sit on chairs with wet backsides and take glasses and plates to our sunbeds round the pool its us who discard glasses on the beach in the flower beds on stairs and any other place rather then walk the short distance to a table or a bar,its us who ignore the no shorts rule and walk in to the resturant half naked, its our kids we let rampage through the hotel at midnight,im beggining to sound like victor meldrew now, don't get me wrong i like a good shant on my holiday but i also like to be considerate to my fellow guests and the hotel itself.

So will i go to the ledra again sadly no not until a refurb has been done and there are rumours of major investment, what about you reading this having already booked, well i have slated the place a little bit,but please have in mind we went at the busiest time of year the hotel was at full capacity,we have stayed there before when it was in its prime.go and make your minds up its your holiday you earned it,sometimes you only get out what you put in.

This was our first and definitely our last time at the hotel.

Rooms-On arrival we were put into rooms on the lower ground floor S16/S17. These rooms were quite honestly filthy. We immediately complained and asked to be moved to different rooms. We were told that this would not be possible until the changeover the following day but it seemed as if the receptionist almost expected the complaint. We have since found out that these rooms are used for staff quarters. The following day as promised we were moved to better rooms although you would have to say that these are not of 4 star standard as they are in desparate need of a refurb.

Reception-Air conditioning in the reception area was intermittent at best meaning that in the evening we all sat sweating. The guests tended to come straight from the swimming pool to sit on the chairs meaning that finding a dry chair could be a bit of a problem. The waiters and waitresses, mostly East European so don't expect authentic Cyprus here, in the reception area were very good and you did not have to wait long for a drink. We were at the hotel as the new football season started and the TV area was overwhelmed with people watching SKY sports. There is no chance of a nice quiet drink while the football is on.

Pool-The main pool is 1.4 m deep all round so not suitable for children who can't swim. There is also an adults only pool although on many occasions there were children in it. During our stay the main pool seemed to be gradually filling up with sand carried on people from the beach even though there are taps placed at the entrance from the beach to clean sand off. The pool cleaner made a half-hearted daily attempt at cleaning the pool. The sunbeds around the pool are occupied from around 7 in the morning so you have to be up early to get a good spot.

Beach-The beach is sandy but with some fairly sharp rocks/stones in it. It is impossible to look elegant entering the sea due to the rocks right on the shoreline. The seabed drops away very quickly meaning that the sea is not for young children or weak swimmers.

Entertainment-The entertainment team work extremely hard without ever being in your face. They will ask if you want to join in and if you decline they will not push it. We only watched one evening show, the hypnotist, which was excellent.

Food-The food was excellent with plenty of choice.

General-In our party of 8, 7 of us experienced upset stomachs, 3 of which resulted in those people being bed-ridden for 2 days. 2 of the children picked up ear infections which resulted in trips to the medical centre where the standard of care and cleanliness was excellent. During conversations with other guests it would appear that our experience here was not an isolated one in fact when we visted the medical centre we saw many familiar faces. It is impossible for us to say what the cause of the infections were; the pool, the food or the sanition although the general concensus was the pool and the sanitation generally.
The hotel is in need of a complete refurb. The front entrance door which is plate glass was cracked when we arrived and had not been repaired when we left. There were several toilet cubicles which were unusable for days on end because light bulbs were blown and not replaced. The ladies toilets by the pool were unusable due to them being flooded with urine. In one of our rooms it took the maintenace staff 4 attempts to get the lights working correctly. Having no lights working when you have an upset stomach in the middle of the night is no fun! The other room for our party had a faulty toilet such that it only flushed when it felt like it. The cleaners made only cursory efforts at cleaning the rooms.
In summary the hotel could be superb with a little more effort from Iberostar. In its current state the hotel is most definitely not 4 star.

I stayed all inclusive at this hotel, but found the Ledra not up to 4* standards as it is stated in the brochure, I wouldn't rate it as a 3*.

The food was very English and repetative, not many different choices, it was like visiting a Butlins holiday camp.

Some of the food was just stated as chicken, or beef, or lamb, in a sauce, but didn't state what was in it.

The hotel location itself was quite central, you could walk out up the road 10 mins to other bars and eateries etc, there was a bus stop outside to take you to the old town and down to the harbour.

Hotel staff, some were pleasant like the waiters, they were polite, but the reception staff were like jekkle and hyde.. the animation team worked really hard from 9am-12 midnight, during the day they asked you to join in the activities, but didn't pressure you if you said no, they were lovely people.. also provided the entertainment at night, where you had to sit in a little amphitheatre on wooden benches with no tables.

Around the pool areas were quite filthy, the paths were never cleaned or hosed down in the whole two weeks I spent there, which I think was appalling, also for e.g the side tables hadn't been cleaned by the look of them, the pool itself had sand in the bottom where people hadn't cleaned there feet from returning from the beach, although there are foot washes provided, and tiles were missing from the bottom of the pool.. we only saw a pool man about once during the two weeks, in that time he didn't clean the pool to my knowledge, also the indoor pool was unclean also where children were allowed in there alone and thought it funny to throw there food in the pool.. which was only scooped out by the way.

The rooms were cleaned daily, but do need a refurb as they are looking a little worn. Also I thought there were too many weddings going on, they seemed to take over the hotel.

Would I stay at this hotel again.. not in a million years!!!

Just returned from the Ledra Beach and even though we enjoyed the holiday as a whole - we were disappointed in quite a few areas.

The room was tiny and would have been small even for a couple - but for a family group with a 7 year old and teenager, it was simply not adequate. There was hardly any storage space and so most of the kids clothes ended up on top of the dressing table or on the one chair in the room. We were given a bunk bed which my son was much too big for, and having paid an adult price was certainly not what we had expected. We didn't complain though as the terrace led straight to the pool area and we weren't in the room very often. The lock on the patio door was very dodgy though and even though I did lock the door we could quite easily just give it a push and gain entry to the room!

The day we arrived the main pool looked very murky - you couldn't see the bottom of the pool. Many people came down with ear infections and gastro enteritis. Apparently stomach bugs are rife in Cyprus at the moment with the very warm temperatures, but many people from the hotel were coming down with the bug and some had to be hospitalised. After the first day the pool did seem to be cleaned on a regular basis, although the bottom was always sandy and on our last day there was poo floating around! (The pool stayed closed for the rest of the day with no-one wanting to venture anywhere near it). The hotel did deal with it straight away though and the pool man was called out to deal with it.

The food was great, no complaints there - plenty of choice and always hot. Again the choice of drink was very good and the waiters and bar tenders were very friendly, although the same couldn't be said for the reception staff who looked as if they had a bad smell under their nose all the time!

The location was great, although the small beach was rocky and we didn't venture into the sea at all for this reason. The sun beds were very uncomfortable and were obviously designed to have a cushion on top. Unfortunately there were only about half a dozen cushions to go around all the sunbeds and unless you got down at the crack of dawn you were unlikely to be laying in any comfort for the day! There were plenty of sunbeds although not all of them were in a very good condition!

The entertainment staff were great and worked really hard. The kids joined in all the activities which made the holiday very relaxing for us. I joined in some of the adult games and met some lovely people from getting involved. The evening entertainment was held in the outside theatre which had uncomfortable wooden benches to sit on.

I wouldn't go back to the hotel again unless they did some serious refurbishing. However, we went away for a relaxing two week holiday and we did get exactly that - the kids really enjoyed their stay and I know would like to return.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ledra Beach in August, it was our third visit as the previous two years we had enjoyed it immensely.

However, unfortunately this year's holiday was a big disappointment in that we found that the clientele had gone downhill, lots of unruly behaviour, parents who couldn't care less about their kids. We saw on numerous occasions kids running into the reception area and jumping all over the furniture in wet bathing costumes. They also didn't care that although there was an adult pool in the grounds, kids were still jumping in and out and annoying other guests.

The pools we found this year both in and out doors weren't very clean and always seemed murky. And to top it all I came down with a stomach bug and had to go to the local medical centre where lots of other guests from the Ledra attended with the same problem. This has never happened in the previous years we have stayed there, but I believe the bug may have been from the dirty pools.

The food however cannot be faulted, a huge selection at breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks by the pool which are more like meals!! lots of choice, and the desserts as always were beautiful. I cannot understand that some people moan about the food! There is always so much choice no matter what your preferences are, I think some people are never satisfied!

Sadly we will be not be returning to the Ledra next year, we both want a change and have chosen the Athena Royal Beach hotel which is for adults only which will be a nice change for us.

We may return to the Ledra in the future, but I think that a lot of things need to be improved first, that includes refurbishment of rooms, and the pools to be properly cleaned.
