We went to Bognor on a Butlins break at Easter (2nd - 6th midweek)

We stayed in a deluxe room (half board) and we were not disappointed with the accommodation !

Downstairs two large comfy sofas, kitchenette (open plan) dining table, wide screen TV, DVD & video. french windows and separate door leading to a small garden. Wine & chocs.

Upstairs toilet, bath/shower, (toiletries) double bedroom & twin bedroom (soft beds) safe. Balcony via main bedroom.

Own parking space outside accommodation & maid service (empty bins & make beds)

The week was labelled as Easter break, and to be honest, most of the skyline entertainment is geared towards the under fives. , skyline gang (my 8 year old loved these though) Bob the builder, and redcoats party dances. and of course the money grabbing photo shoots. Oh and Titen the 7ft robot was good, but we missed the first performance earlier, and caught the second that day, hubby and son was in Hotshots so missed it, but unfortunately it wasn't repeated again that week.

On the Monday only Center Stage was open, Reds were closed., making it impossible to go into the venue as it was packed even more than usual.
We ventured in and walked out when we saw Mr men on stage. Another nights entertainment was wrestling (which was in the skyline last time we went as day entertainment) and by far the worst was so called family entertainment in reds, David Copperfield the "comedian" who told condom jokes (glow in the dark Darth Vader ones, actions done as well)
... Not good when you have a 12 year old and an 8 year old in tow !

There were the tribute bands, Dr & The Medics, but these started at 10.45pm, which was as good as a chocolate teapot when you have two tired kids who by 11pm will be getting bored and ratty and ready for bed !

The break cost us

I took a break to butlins in bognor regis for a nice relaxing break, when I arrived I found the security staff at the main gate was very unhelpful and seem like they did not care!

The accomadation was not even fit for a dog to stay in I suffered with ants and cockraoches and when I went to guest services they was not much help either!!!!

The food was diabolical I went to Finnagans which I think if the health and safety was notified it would get shut down the chips I was given was uncooked and the burger bun was mouldy, the staff was not very chatty or friendly!

The SPLASH WATERWORLD pool was very cold I did not take my children back there again nor did I stay long, the lifegaurds was not really paying any attention most was doing sign language across the venue!!

All in all I think its safe ton say I will NEVER BE visiting butlins again!!!

Anyone who knows me, knows I don't 'DO' Uk holidays in general, let alone to Butlins. BUT, my partner and I took a holiday alone in the Maldives earlier in the year, and so it was the children's choic where they wanted to go in the summer holidays. This was their choice. I have to admit, depsite taking many happy holidays there as a child, I am a self-confessed snob, and was not looking forward to it!

We booked Silver Suites, as this was the highest grade of accomodation left when we were booking, on a half board basis. I have to admit to being pleasantly suprised by the rooms. They are all newly decorated, and were clean on arrival. I have my doubts as to whether they were cleaned each day though, as the bins weren't being emptied and we had to do it ourselves once or twice. Still, no big deal. There was an area to sit outside the rooms, and we even sat there one night and had a bottle or two of wine, as the children were tired and needed an early night.

The dinner on the first night was a nightmare, very long queues for everything. It didn't seem so bad after that though, and as we were in a large party, we managed to reserve the same table for our stay, although this meant arriving at dinner during the first half hour each night. Again, no big deal. The food was of the standard you'd expect from mass catering. It was perfectly edible, even quite enjoyable and there was a reasonable amount of choice. The children loved going up themselves, and certainly made the most of helping themselves to ice cream!

The resort itself it rather tired looking. Some of the theme park rides and slides in the pool have been there since I went as a teenager over 15 years ago! We only used the indoro pool once, as I couldn't face the filthy changing rooms again after that. The floors were truly disgusting! However, my partner did report that they were being scrubbed during pool closing times when he took our sons diving there, so maybe they just need to clean during the day too.

We didn't use the kids clubs at all, or the nursery. We did see the children in them about the resort at times, and they seemed to be having fun. My stepdaughter (aged 14) did the 'Pop Academy', which you have to pre book, and although it wasn't really 4 days of training, as they implied when we booked, (an hour the firsd evening, then a few hours each day after that) she had a brilliant time, and got to perform in Centre Stage one evening,a nd to meet Brenda and Nicholas from X factor backstage.

We did spend a lot of money whilst there. The kids wanted to use the crane machines to try and win teddies, and they had a dinousaur game which they wanted to play. We could have said no, but didn't. We tried the 'Sun and Moon' pub for lunch one day, which was nice, and had a takeaway from Tikka Tikka on the last night, which was Ok, although the service was rubbish and I found it expensive.

All in all, we had a good time, the kids loved it, and we'd probably go back, although maybe a break, as I don't think I'd like our main holiday to be there. If you take it for what it is, and don't mind overlooking a few minor niggles, then you'll have a great time!

First visit to Butlins, first stay in the new Shoreline Hotel. We were quite anxious when we arrived as we did not know what to expect - but butlins did not live up to its 'scratty' reputation.

I can say that this resort & hotel is fantastic.

Hotel has been designed and built to encourage a 'different' clientele to Butlins to which the standards are superb.

Rooms are well equipped - separate sleeping area for children (if you have them)...lovely light airy bathroom with towels (changed daily)....lovely living area with chairs and table to relax..wonderful ceiling to floor windows that show a superb view out to sea.

TV & DVD in both adults area & kids bedroom....FREE bed guards if needed..telephone...hairdryer...tea & coffee facilities....safe...air conditioning....mini fridge...

Breakfast was to die for - you could have the English fry up if wanted or there was the usual toast / ceral / fruit / yoghurts / pastries (need I go on!!!)

Lunch menu was also superb wth a good range of healthy options.

The resort facilities are great for kids - free rides / discos / entertainment etc etc.

All in all we had a great time and will definitely go back again - this time to stay in a Nelson suite that has its own balcony!

The only thing i could mark against the hotel was that it is close to 'Jacks' nightclub, which when emptying at night - or early hours - can disturb your sleep if you are a light sleeper like we are!!!

A great time was had by all.

Just returned from a 3 night break in Butlins Bognor Regis, Shoreline Hotel.

Stayed in the Nelson State Room, and have booked to go back next year.

We could not find fault with anything during our stay.

The State Rooms are the most expensive accomodation in the hotel, but in our opinion worth every penny, with views to die for, and the air conditioning was very welcome during this current heatwave.

Food in the restaurant was faultless, Red Mullet recommended!

Just returned from a 4 night break at Butlins Bognor Regis.
We are regulars at Butlins Skegness (have been going 2 or 3 times a year for the past 11 years!!)but fancied a change of scenery this time.

Unfortunately, we should have stuck to Skegness......
The accommodation in Bognor Butlins is by far a lower standard the Skegness - tatty, unkept and dirty.

The cleaning wasn't up to much either, with unwashed cups/plates in the cupboards.

The site itself is more compact then Skegness, and less crowded (which was actually a bonus),although not on the night that Dick and Dom appeared in Centre Stage...
The staff were quite happy to crowd as many people as possible into the venue, which to me, was quite a fire hazzard..

The location of the camp is pleasent, and Bognor is a lovely town, but I fear we will not be visiting again.

Just returned froma very pleaseant short breaks stay at the Butlins Shoreline Hotel.

The hotel is lovely, very modern and spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly, polite and very helpful. The entertainment for children was excellant with something always going on, the smimming pool which has slides and flumes is very well staffed and they take health and safety very seriously.

The small fairground is a bit dated but the children enjoyed it, childrens entertainers work very hard and encourage all the children to take part. A bit too many fruit machines for my liking but then this was a holiday in the UK!! Had a lovely meal in the american themed restaurant - there was a mix up with our meal so the manager gave us the meals for free as well as a round of drinks And a jug of cocktails and presents for the children.

As it was bonfire night during our stay, there was a very impressive firework display. all in all we had a very enjoyable stay and wouldn't hesitate to book another short stay.

We went to the Adult break and found most entertainments are after 9pm till 2am. Not a lot to do during daytime as most of the rides were closed due to adult only break.

We booked the silver room as it mention rooms are clean everyday but then they only cleaned the 2nd day as they said they don't work on Sunday, really disappointed for the extra money we paid but only for one day cleaning.

The resort needed a major redo as the rooms are all outdated and damaged.

Food are like school food but what can we expect?!

Can't sleep till 4-5am as we can hear clearly people walking outside your room.

Very clearly mentioned how to check in but not a word how to check out.

The kabab and chicken shop needed a deep clean as i don't think it pass the health and safety law.

Overall not a bad holiday.

Security staffs are very nice and helpful and they really do their jobs.

Had a midweek break recently, accommodation appalling, moving a bed aside to set up travel cot revealed rotten carpets, despite booking non-smoking the smell and ashtrays still on the side gave it away as previously used for smoking accommodation( that said smoking seems to be Butlins no.1 activity for other guests).

Facilities OK, nursery and toddlers play area were very good (though why they close the toddlers area on a Wednesday seems a bit daft).

Indoor pool was OK but a bit cold to stay in for long with young kids, main reason why Centre Parcs wipes the floor with Butlins on that front.

Food offerings OK in pub and also at Skyline cafe, Pinewood studios was like something from a high school cookery class, can't believe they charge more there.

Can see why people do go back as it is very cheap accommodation wise( but that's reflected in it's standard), that said it's like Blackpool in a big top, fruit machines as far as the eye can see with a healthy dose of cigarette smoke to help nurture your child towards a life sat in the amusement arcade on your local high street.

Glad we got a good deal on the week as we would have been even more disappointed if it hadn't been half price.

Went for a 90th birthday party and was very impressed. Had a H/B silver room which, although could have done with a re-vamp, was cleaned every day.

Food was very good - especially the breakfasts. However, the evening meal was rather early and by the time the children were sorted, this didn't leave a great deal of time.

The celebration package was well worth the money. So much to do during the day. Spent it swimming, walking along the sea front or generally walking about the 'camp' and catching the entertainment that was going on during the day.

The staff 'worked their socks off' keeping everyone entertained. There was something for everyone, from the 2year old to the 90 year old. I've alreay booked for new years eve and easter. Can't wait.
