We went to The Merit for our honeymoon and although not a "fussy" hotel inside (it's slightly dated) it was spotlessly clean with wide open spaces, marble floors and very friendly staff.
Our rooms were cleaned every day with new linen and our mini bar refreshed (soft drinks were free).
The pool was clean and quiet at that time of year and various bars and eateries dotted about the complex meant that there was always good quality free food and drink only a few steps away!
The staff were very friendly and although the beach was a bit seaweedy - you can't complain when it's just a few steps down from the poolside and private.
A free bus takes you into Kyrenia a couple of times a day but the hotel was so beautiful that you won't want to leave!
The food was wonderful - and lots of it.
I would go back there tomorrow if I could!
