Had such a brilliant time here in cala d'or. Weather was just perfect at this time with a little slight breeze very friendly little pleasant beach you have a step away from your hotel.
We went for my 26th birthday and the holiday reps made it for me they were mad, sang to me at the beach bar was so embarrassing ha ha.
They were good fun for the children as well you will see for yourself well worth it.
Well what can I say about the hotel no fault what so ever was in a perfect location for every one pool was nice and the beach, there are a few bars, restaurants and shops, recommend hacienda's, staff so welcoming and pleasant say hi from me lol its then only a 10 - 15 min walk to the main square where it all happens from clubs, restaurants, shops and entertainment.
Recommend the cocktail bar by the square they are brilliant big exploding volcanoes well worth the price.
From the square it is then only a 5 - 10 minute walk to the marina which is well worth seeing the restaurants and all the posh boats including Chris even's.
Food in the hotel was always hot and a good selection just couldn't fault anything I will definitely be returning back soon it is a perfect place for all ages and backgrounds.

Just spent two wonderful weeks at the Ponent Playa with my two boys aged 10 and 7. We had a great holiday and found the hotel to be ideally situated on the Cala Ferrara beach.
The hotel was kept very clean at all times, it is only the guests that do not clear up after themselves!! The food in the hotel was extremely good and was glad to see 'NO burgers, hot dogs, pizza and junk food every evening', it meant my boys had good food every evening with plenty of fish, vegetables and fresh fruit in abundance. Breakfast each day was cooked fresh and again lots of fruit, cereal, bread, pastries and salami, cheese etc. Also a micowave available if needed. Dinner served from 7pm until 10pm.
The hotel is located close to the main centre of Cala D'or which is about 15 minutes walk away, which is good to walk off the calories from Dinner every evening, also the boys enjoyed the go karts, trampolines and games which are dotted along the main walk into town.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms cleaned each day, fresh towels each day and bedding changed every three days. Only one pillow per person on bed and no hairdryer in room, but request them from reception with no problem.
The entertainment in the hotel was good, the team worked very hard and involved the kids in some of the shows which they loved. On-site games room with pool table etc. situated off main entertainment area so you can keep an eye on the children.
Cannot comment on daytime activities around as we spent 13 out of 14 days on the beach which was great. Hired sunbeds x 2 and umbrella for

Hotel was lovely and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. We booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 children and were amazed at its size. It consisted of 2 twin beds and bunk beds with plenty of room to spare
unlike other hotels that we have stayed at which just add 2 more beds to a twin room and call it a family room. Best of all was the fact that we had a seaview at no extra cost.
All rooms have air-conditioning which was a blessing as it was so hot. One down side was the size of the pool, far to small for the amount of people staying at the hotel, but as the hotel is on the beach we went in the sea every day.
Food was lovely, always plenty of choice, even for fussy children Bar prices comparable with bars in the rest of Cala dor. All in all we had a lovely holiday. Can't wait to return next year

My daughter and myself stayed at this hotel and was very impressed. cleanliness, excellent.
Food, excellent, better than some 4 star hotels I have stayed in, there was something for everyone.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We paid a bit extra for a sea view, worth every penny, it worked out to just five pounds each day, the views were fabulous.

Hotel could not be faulted on either food or cleanliness. However the pool area left a lot to be desired,not enough sunbeds for busy season and very poor quality(we observed at least 5 people fall through the sunbeds!!).The pool side entertainment was enough to drive you mad, water polo took up most of the pool which was shallow enough for you to stand up in for about 2 hours some days, other end of the pool was very deep and not suitable for children, so you were left to boil on the poolside.
We only stayed once for evening entertainment, other nights we could hear it as we passed and it sounded as dreadful as the night we attended.
Needlessnto say we will not be returning.

We had high expectations when we booked the Ponent Playa. Very disappointing, what has not been said earlier is that the hotel is "massive", it is built in 3 blocks.
The first room we were given looked directly at the wall of the next block on one side and the car park on the other. Although we were late arriving the beds were not made up, we were told by the maid that there were no bedclothes.
On going onto the balcony we were shocked, there was a small (normal room size) door with a bathroom door lock" for security" the door sill had rotted away leaving a metal door bar looses with rusty screws sticking out. The window sill was smashed with steel reinforcing sticking out, the balcony was filthy and was not cleaned during the three days we spent in the room.
We immediately asked to be moved only to be told the hotel was full. We had requested a sea view room but were told that this would be 13 euro's per day extra.
The corridoors were noisy at night ( that was other guests, not the hotels fault) could'nt get to sleep until 1.00 AM. As for the food, well we had a good meal, just the one in 14 days, the rest of the time it was pretty bad.
Will we go back again.... yeah right.

Our rooms were thoroughly cleaned and tidied every day.
There was plenty of choice at mealtimes serving everything from local specialities, international cuisine, vegetarian options to baked beans; there was a great selection of puddings too!
The location of the hotel is spectacular; on one side there is a beach snack bar and steps leading directly down onto the lovely beach of Cala Ferrera and, on the other, a good sized swimming pool with plenty of sunloungers and a pool snack bar! Having 2 young children in our party it gave us peace of mind not having any roads to contend with!
The hotel staff were helpful and friendly and the entertainment staff did a great job! It was the first time we had taken our children abroad and they (and we) loved every second of it so much that, within a week of returning home, we have booked again for 2007!!

A typical Spanish type hotel, fairly basic accommodation but very clean. A nice outdoor pool with plenty of sunbeds. The food provided over the two weeks was excellent provided in a buffet style with so much choice that you would be very hard pressed, no matter what nationality you are, not to find many different types of food to tempt you at every meal. The evening entertainment was fairly mediocre but they did make an effort at it.

I have been to Cala D'or four times now in total, and this was the best hotel i have stayed in yet! The food was amazing, with so much variety to choose from. As for clenliness, it was exceptional. The staff were always very friendly, particularly those who worked on the Pool Bar, and the location of the hotel is ideal. It is lovely and quiet, but just a 15 minute walk away is lively nightlife. Two members of our party had never been abroad before, but loved the place so much that they vowed to return next year! Overall, possibly the best holiday ive ever had-i would definately,stay at the hotel again!

After a really nice holiday at a Barcelo Hotel in Lanzarote, I chose the Barcelo Ponent Playa Hotel in Cala D'Or for my Easter break with my best friend.
Although not as plush as the Barcelo Lanzarote, the hotel was very clean and looked appealing. The hotel staff were useful and hard-working and the cleaners also.
