Cala Egos where Marthas is, is about 25 min walk from centre of cala d'or, but it is a nice walk round the marina.(Taxi cost 5Euros with tip) The small area of Cala Egos surrounding Marthas is quiet with only a small number of bars/restaraunts and shops but has a very relaxed atmosphere.Beaches on this side of island are small cove type, but they were never loud or crowded when we were there. All the boat tours stop at beach to tour the island. A couple of days the water had some small amount of things floating in water but we saw the "clean-up" boat thing every other day, so standard is good.Marthas work hard at night to keep you in the resort and to be honest the adult programme starts at about ten or so, so you can do CalaD'or and be back in time for the shows they put on which were great for all the family.

Beaches in the area are all a bit small if you like space. Catch a bus (70p) to Mondrago (2 bigger beaches) or better still get a car and go to Trenc in the south. If you like it quiet stay away from Alcudia.

Cala D'Or, especially some of the residential parts was very nice and definitely preferable to Cala Esmerelda, Cala Egos etc which were located around but far more 'tourist only' places and somewhat characterless. The beach was a relatively small cove but pretty with quite a few facilities (toilets, cafes, shops) so you could spend the day there. The very centre of the town housed mainly restaurants and once you had a bit of colour and looked a sthough you knew where you were going, you didn't get hassled too much by the people trying to get you in to their establishments. The best restaurants were located around the outside of all this but as everything is just a short stroll you get a pretty good atmosphere throughout the area so don't feel as though you are missing out. At the bottom of Cala D'Or centre, towards Hotel Cala D'Or, were the best Spanish restaurants and for other cuisine, Cappricio Italiano offered varied, high quality food with excellent service and interestingly was well visited by locals and India is run by a guy called Jesus, a bit of a hippy who has travelled extensively through Asia and got some backing to set a fairly authentic restaurant up, based on my experiences of that continent. They have an open kitchen so you can watch your food preparation and a rose garden where they get the petals to sprinkle on your table for good karma! If you think this is a little pretentious they didn't mind at all that my three year old turned up in her Burger King crown as she had eaten there first!!
One place to miss is a small area at the top of Cala D'Or where you will find Yates's and a couple of other bars. Unfriendly once they've got you in, cheap drinks (believe me you get what you pay for!) and dirty. Avoid that part and you will have a great time!

Excellent resort that catered well for both adults and children. Always felt safe and relaxed.

Cala Egos is a nice small resort though is a little way from the larger Cala D'Or.

We stayed in Cala Dor.
The resort was very clean,there was plenty to do.
We were disappointed with the beach as there were loads of jellyfish, but overall it was a fantastic holiday.
We cant wait to go back.

The resort is very clean and kept to high standards
Good number of shops, bars, etc..
Entertainment is good but not much to do if the weather is bad.
Beaches where kept clean and tidy and not to busy for that time of year.

The resort of Cala Egos is only small but still has plenty of shops bars and restaurants, and Cala Dor is only a short 15 minute walk away. Cala Dor can also be reached by taxi or land train, it also has a picturesque marina with many expensive boats, the beach at cala egos is cleaned every morning, it is a small but very pretty bay with lovely clear blue water and picturesque rocks. We will certainly be returning next year.
