Pretty nice resort. Nothing specially good or specially bad about it. Some green spaces, nice beaches, but had the impression that it was more of a family resort if you have young kids, maybe its name (Costa Calma) refers to the night-life rather than the sea or weather.

If anything goes wrong and you have to talk to the Police, then you apparently need to find a willing interpreter, unless you speak fluent Spanish. This probably helps keep the crime figures and the police work load down very nicely, considering you have to find the interpreter and take the interpreter to them, they won't come and talk to you. You may find fluent German is also useful, so that you can understand the notices explaining this on the local Police Hut ("Station"), which almost invariably seemed empty unless you had made an appointment to meet them there. Of course, if you were injured or the victim of a more serious crime I don't doubt that they might actually get their fingers out and help you a bit more actively.... I hope. Chasing them with an interpreter may be more difficult with a stab wound, but maybe they would be counting on that.

I must say that the receptionist at the Green Oasis who gladly accompanied me to be my interpreter at the Police "Station" to report the loss of my SLR (camera) and HP Jornada (Pocket PC) was so helpful, and saved the day.

Costa calma is a very quiet resort,.There are a few bars if you turn right outside of the hotel but we only found these when we drove past them on the way home, thats how quiet it is.
there is a small precinct area to the left of the hotel, just a small walk where there are a few small and very friendly bars.
The resort itself is very clean and feels very safe.

Costa Calma is a resort in the South of the Island and as most of that part of Fuerteventurta you will think you are in Germany rather than the Canaries. However if you are looking for quality hotels in a quiet area you will find it ideal certainly not for the lager louts or the British bar and burger types.
The resort consist basically of one street that runs parralell with the FV2 (the main North South highway) there are lots of hotels and appartments between the road and the beach. The entertainment retaurants shops and bars can be found in the Commercial Centres of which there are four or five arround the resort.
The main beach is a clean sunbed type beach and is the Northen end of Sotavento beach which is featured in all the travel books and brochures on Fuerteventura. At the Southern end of the beach there is a small cove that is predominatly naturist.
C. C. is ideal if you are looking for a quiet place to chill out with access to some ammeneties, it is also a good place to be based to tour the Island.
