The hotel itself is lovely, looking like it has been renovated to a high standard. We stayed in a junior suite, and were very impressed.

The hotel is kept very clean as are the rooms.

The food is the big let down of the place as many other write ups have stated, and it is such a shame. Yes the food was cold, and also left out on the servery for too long and it would go dry and end up not very appetising at all. I didn't like the fact that the pool bar closed at 10.30pm which meant to get your all inclusive drinks you had to march off downstairs to the disco area to get a drink....OR pay at the bar inside, where the 'entertainment' was.

The Paraiso is a bit out of it, but that isn't a fault with it, after all it's a quiet resort anyway which you would know before booking. It will be much better when the path round the cove is finished, this will make the walk into the resort much shorter and quicker.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and worked very hard. The owners could do with employing one or two more though as waiting for drinks and getting a table cleaned up for dinner was sometimes a problem.

The animation team were your usual lot for this type of holiday and did a good job. The evening entertainment left a bit to be desired, mainly a geezer on a keyboard with his female sidekick, we've all seen them before!!
This could be an unbeatable hotel to stay at, but it needs some issues sorting out, mainly the food, and it truely would warrant its 4 stars.

Lovely looking hotel and junior suites are fantastic. Room really clean a credit to the cleaners.

Food was ok some strange choices and not always hot. Snack at outside bar at lunchtime were hotter although limited in choice.

Location was fine as if you read the brochure the hotel was as described although there were a small selection of shops, pubs and restaurants a short stroll away which was fine.

Entertainment could be alot better very subdued and boring.

Making the outdoor bar only for all inclusive seemed silly as most people at the hotel were all inclusive. All bars should be available to everyone.

Lovely relaxing time was had.

Arrived early New Year, bad point hotel is a little out of the way, good points staff warm and friendly couldn't do enough for you.

Food to die for, entertainment special, we can particularly recommend Thursday night at the Chinese/Italian followed by the Broadway Hits performed by the hotel animation team, this show would not be out of place in the West End.

The Germans were warm and friendly and even offered to reserve some sun beds for us. The Scotch were also excellent people they entertained us well into the night. What really made the holiday special for our family was meeting a family of toffs from Bolton, they introduced us to the finer things in life Bolton Wanderers and drinking champagne!!

If you fancy stretching your legs there are some lovely shops and bars in Playa Paraiso, the gutbuster breakfast is recommended at the Slug and Lettuce.

We have recommended this hotel to all our friends and we can't wait to go again.
PS Loads to do for the Kids.

We've just returned fron an enjoyable stay at Dunas Paraiso. After being slightly worried beforehand after reading some of the reviews I thought it would be the holiday from hell but I was very wrong.

We arrived at the hotel the day before new years eve and was taken care of efficiently by the reception staff and given details of the gala dinner for thhe next evening, this put my mind at rest as I was worrying about the forthcoming evenings entertainment as we have 2 children aged 5 and 8 year, and didn't want them to be bored.

We hand a superb gala dinner champagne, canapes and cavair not mention the excellent hot buffet and to die for cakes and desserts. The evening went off with a bang in thee disco were we met the entertainments gang and more to the point some very entertaining guests. Good night had by all!!!!

We never had a problem getting a sunbed, plenty of room you could do kartwheels around the pool there was so much room. There was quite a mixture of nationalities staying there,we came across a lot of Scottish families who were quite reserved and just kept themselves to themselves. But as with any holiday you always have a rowdy bunch who take over the pool. The rooms were modern, clean with plenty of space, theres a fridge which we used to store soft drinks in (ie Lucozade which you cant seem to get hold of over there and my husbands red bull).

My husband thoroughly enjoyed the daytime activities especially the volleyball with Jan (animation team) he was exceptionally good at entertaining the teenagers!
The hotel is a bit off the beaten track but you can stroll into playa paraiso which takes about 10 mins there you can enjoy a good karaoke and sing a long in one of the many bars or have a champagne cocktail overlooking the sea.

Try 'The Hut'for one of these - divine!!!! Make sure you ask Fred the disco bar man to make yours, he's the best). If you plan on going further a field you can hire car from paraiso ( Daisys direct) apparently most competitive as advised by a guy who we chatted to in the hotel, a clinical hygenist from Cumbria who seemed to know his stuff.

Also within the hotels facilities theres a self awarded chinese and italian restaurant thats not to be missed. (the lasagne is mouth watering and comes in a 'piping hot clay dish!')

So overall if your looking for a relaxing but entertaining holiday try the dunas paraiso.

Would I go again, well I do like to get around so Im going to try the Bahia Principe, also an all inclusive (as recommended by Liam a friendly scottish individual).

This hotel is not for people looking for nightlife, as we were looking for a quiet weeks relaxation we found it ideal.

Playa Paraiso is a 10 -15 minute walk from the hotel and again it is a quiet and relaxed resort, although there is quite a bit of building going on.

I could not fault the hotel for cleanliness, there was always someone going about cleaning the floors and around the pool areas.

There was really good variety of food at meal times, unfortunately, the hot food was not kept very hot and this put people off so my wife and I tended to stick to the salads which were plentiful. The main bar tended to be the pool bar, unfortunately it closed at 10:30 and you were forced to retire to the Disco bar.

Entertainment was good in the Disco bar most nights after 10pm with a Casino night, Chinese acrobats, Brazilian dancers, Lord of the Dance show etc.

I would go back to the hotel again, but only if I was assured that the food problem had been resolved and an extra bar person employed to keep the queues down

Sometimes you get that urge to try a different hotel from the one you have known and loved for a while. With this is mind you must read this report and understand we have previously stayed "down the road" at the Bahia Principe(BP). Which in my opinion, is a classier hotel (and of course a little more expensive). I can compare the two:

The good points about the Dunas:

1) The Hotel itself (the building) is very good, apart from the children's pool layout which only allows a few sunbeds around it. It's a stunning hotel in some respects.

2) In the double room (all suites/rooms are actually two
rooms), the Aircon works, the shower works (some pressure problems), you get a microwave, coffee machine, fridge and TV (SKY news only). The rooms are huge and so is the balcony (complete with sunbeds and furniture). Much better than the BP.

3) They have considered mobility and all places have lift access or ramps. This beats the BP (adeje annex).

4) There was not a language problem if you were polite

5) It seems waiters never get tipped. I realise its an all inclusive hotel, but these people are on rubbish money. We tipped one waiter in the "speciality" restaurants for looking after us all night. The guy was almost crying when we gave him a tip which would probably be an extra hours work to him. He was worth it. We saw no-one else tip. Come on people!

6) Has a good secure underground car park and security in general was good. You often saw more than one guard every 15 minutes walking the grounds.

7) Free pool towels (10 euro deposit per towel) every day, no problems (this beat the sporadic nature of the BP)

8) Speciality restaurant has fantastic view and is underused. Though they are very strict with its use. You get 1 Italian, 1 Chinese each week, but must be a whole week to get another go, so has to be 14 days to get 2 visits to each. BP is more relaxed about this (especially on your 2nd visit). Chinese was very good, Italian OK. Its the same restaurant BTW, just separated by some plants. Not as good as BP. BP was a-la carte and tons better.

9) Beer in the hotel was San Miguel, not some "watered down local beer" as has been suggested. Beer better than BP.

10) House Rose is one of the best I have had, White was OK a bit oaky for my tastes, Red was fine, nothing special. Wine just a bit better than BP.

11) Spirits usual Tenerife freebies like Honey Rum and Banana Liquor which were fine.

12) Mini Disco was OK, Kids loved it. I felt it was too samey every time, same games, same music. Kids would get bored after a week. BP beats this hands down with their plays and activities nights.

13) Food was OK, hot, choices and tasted OK. Meat was cooked a little on the rare side (in front of you), but they'd put it back on the griddle if you asked. At least 3 different "meats" cooked each night on the griddle, as well as other meats in the serving hotplates. Not up to BP class though.

The bad points

1) August/peak, don't go they can't cope. Queues, Queues, Queues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2) They insist on serving you at pool bars but let you serve yourself in the restaurant. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! This is a company that's been around for a while and can't see that they don't do things efficiently. They also only have enough staff to run one bar at any one time (again stupid!). They need to get people into other hotels to learn how it is done.

3) They seem to think people will stick to timetables. Everything has a time its open (even the pool). After a mass protest, they gave in with the pool and let people use it before 9, but as I said only after a mass protest where people moved the chains out the way. BP didn't have problems with sunbeds.

4) We saw a lot of fellow Brits, reserve sun beds and disappear off to PDLA for the day. This really annoyed us and the management didn't follow through their own rules to remove the towels, even though they had records of the people on the bus. Poor. But they did remove a couple of towels of people whose sun beds just happened to be in the "wrong place" (which we can understand safety wise, but rules should be followed through).

5) Main Restaurant was poorly laid out, poorly staffed and the tables were a poor size and also not well balanced (don't lean on the corners!!!!)

6) Sheets were only changed once a week, towels in rooms hit and miss. They don't have enough cleaners so your room can get cleaned at 4pm if like us you were last on the list. No good if you have a baby taking a siesta.

7) There is building work, no overly noisy, but its seems Pedro Construction likes to bangs things to start their day at 7:30am. This will affect block C and block D (the dungeon block....). However C and D will be quietest at night as the disco and lobby are in Block B and A. (BTW the new hotel they are building looks class, don't know whose it is though).

8) They don't clean the pool areas or the outside/inside paving very well. Seems they just throw a hose on it once a week. I know the BP scrub everything.

9) The heated kiddies pool failed and they didn't seem to care, whereas anything that generated money (the internet machines) got fixed pretty quickly.

In short its a great hotel, with bad policies and staffing problems. It probably would be an excellent hotel in the winter season (October to May) and we may, revisit again then HOWEVER the BP, whilst being a little more expensive, is much much better (the Tenerife part is anyway), and on balance, is worth the extra 50-75 a person for a week to go there. If only the BP had the rooms of the Dunas, you'd have the perfect AI hotel!

This was a lovely hotel. It was very clean and the staff were very friendly. The location was a bit far out if you like to walk and shop but we had the kids with us so it didn't bother us. A taxi into Playas cost around 15 euros , so we went down once and got all our shopping in 1 go.

The food was excellent. the only fault is any was that the breakfast could have had a bit more variety.
The other meals were excellent , the steaks were the best i've had. There was plenty of variety for the kids and the boys loved the fact that they could get drinks anytime they liked.

The pools were lovely and extremely warm. My only commnet here was that the sunbeds were very close together and you had to be up and down for 9 if you wanted one by the pool side.

I would reccomend this hotel to anyone and would not hesitate to go back again.

Myself and my 11 year old Son visited this place on the 19th Aug 2005 here is my report:

1, Check-in was excellent we arrived at 1am everything was smooth, We were asked if we were hungry, We said we were so the receptionist went with us to take our bags to the room then opened the restaurant for us, There were cold meats cheese etc to eat, I thought that this was a great touch, Plus you could get a beer from the self service, and a coke for my son, Ended up staying up till 3am with two other family's drinking wine and beer.

2,The Hotel is out on its own about 3/4 mile to Town, and 5 mile to Las Americas/Torviscas/Adeje.

3, The room we booked into was a twin basic which was very nice with a view to the tennis courts and Football area, it had 2 single beds a Shower and a sink and toilet, Fridge and safety deposit box (2.50 euro a day) and a double wardrobe, I do think they should put a kettle in the rooms, A nice sized balcony with a clothes dryer and two sunbeds, two chairs and a table.

4, The reception area has shop (quite expensive) Where you can get newspapers and any other essentials you forgot, There is also some fashion shops. two computers for the internet, 1 Euro for 10 mins.

5, Below you have the Lounge area there is live music on every night by the same duo, they are OK to listen to if you want a chill, but more suited to the older client

From the moment we arrived I think we all said yes this is good. We arrived quite late (approx 12:00AM) and were immediately given freedom of the buffet restaurant. The first night was spent enjoying the lovely food, the even more lovely drink and the company of others (Gary & Chris).

We all agree that the staff, the food & the hotel cleanliness were second to none.

The entertainment was good but was limited but it depends on what you liked.

The location was a little of the beaten track but given that this was all-inclusive why would you need to go anywhere else.

We had a briiliant holiday and would definately recommend this hotel to anybody.

If you are worried about whether you can get a sunbed ahead of the Germans - Don't worry
The only thing you should get up early for is to watch some of these idiots climb over each other to get a better view of the pool.

Get up at 9:30 - 10:00 or 10:30, you may miss breakfast but you will not miss a day in the sun.

We went to Paraiso Dunas at the end of August beginning of September and all I can say is it was lovely.

The only thing that let them down really was the food for the little ones Nikkita our little girl lived off bread rolls for a week!!!

Other than that the rooms were beautiful and so was the view from the rooms the pool was exellant with plenty of sunbeds for everone.

The pool bar was very friendly but you had to queue up for quite a while to get your drinks other than that it was a wonderful place and we would go back there again
