As a Skywards member you can check in on line but its only 12 hours before departure (all connecting flights up to 36hrs can be done at the same time) However when I did this recently there were very few seats available to book on my flight to Dubhi. I suggest you call Skywards and speak to them they can only say no, but you may get a yes.

Daveyboy,

EK08 is operated by an Airbus A330-243. A seat map is available on Emirates website.

How do I get hold of some Emirates luggage lables? I have booked via Expedia and can't find anything on this on the Emirates site.

Also can you do the online check in on the Gatwick to Brisbane via Dubai route. Is the online check in easy? I would like to check my 82 year old mother in online.

Also, I am a little concerned as to how she will get on changing planes in Dubai - she is travelling on her own. She is a little hard of hearing.

They will have a big stack of luggage labels at the airport so you can fill them in whilst you queue to check in. I beleive you can only check in online with Emirates if you are a skywards member (their frequent flyer programme). You will beable to check your Mum in for all her connecting flights at the UK point of departure and will be given boarding cards for all her flights and her luggage will go stright through to the final destination.

Dubai airport is pretty crowded and a bit confusing I would say - perhaps you could arrange for her to be met off the plane and accompanied to her next flight. How long is her layover in Dubai?

Thank you very much. I have actually registered her as a skywards member!

She will be at Dubai airport for an hour and three quarters.

I did wonder if I could arrange some help for her but thought that as apart from a bit of deafness there is not really anything wrong with her. The problem is more that she is used to small airports such as Norwich, Stansted and Malta!! Dubai may come as a bit of a shock to her. She qill also have a re-fuelling stop at Singapore.

Anyone got an email address for Emirates. I have searched high and low on the web site and can't find one.

I want to see if I can arrange some assistance for my Mum at Dubai airport.

Hi

I registered as a Skywards member but was told this week by Emirates that you can only book seats in Business and First class not economy.

I hope she is in the first two criteria.

She is booked in economy. Not to worry - we plan to arrive at the airport early anyway and as she is travelling on her own and wants an aisle seat it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Expedia have arranged for an airline rep to meet her at Dubai and escort her to the aircraft for her onward flight. Didn't think it necessary to arrnge the same at Singapore as she is only there for an hour and as it is the same plane she will hopefully remain in the gate area.

Could someone offer me some advise about pre-booking our seats. I have been making some enquiries and apart from the obvious bulk head seats, I understand that towards the rear of the planes the seats reduce from 3-4-3 configuration to 2-4-2. These seats are supposed to be set at a slight angle and therefore offer more leg room. Is this true? Having only 2 seats is more appealing than sitting in a 3 seat configuration for getting up etc. Any info would be apprecited.

Daveyboy,

Sorry, only just seen your post and just out of time with the look of it! EK08 is a Boeing 777-31H.

Hope you had a great time,

trish1968,

Do you have a flight number so I can check on your aircraft type? The seats towards the rear don't angle in as far as I'm aware. The reason there are less seats in the row is because the fuselarge starts to narrow. They face forward just the same as all the others.

These flights are code shared with Sri Lankan air and seem to be operated with Airbus 330. If you click on the aircraft type on the link you can see the seating plan.
