Have to go with oap as I followed her recommendations but have to say Le Jardin was the best of the lot but quite pricey but then again worth every penny.
Every morning I would ask oap where she had eaten the night before and if she said it was good then we would give it a try the following night, it was like having a food taster :rofl :rofl

Souymens Kitchen

The menu was similar to After 7 but the atmosphere, welcome, service and the food is better.
We went to have a look one morning and ended up spending an hour there with Chef, he told us all of the news, showed us around the kitchen and discussed recipies.
Well worth a visit - the dishes are cooked and presented with military precision - in full view, just wish I could have gone back a few more times.

;) AND you get escorted back to the main road by a waiter complete with gas light! Couldn't fault the food at all!

Souymens Kitchen. the guy that runs it was the head chef at the after 7, they had a big fall out and he set up his own place. went there 3 times this trip buy far the best place we ate, must agree with fiona though the nirvana takes some beating. good price and the peper steake is spot on.

Been back from Goa Less than a week. We stayed at Park Avenue Hotel, which is just near to Infantaria Bakery on the Baga/Calangute Road.

Park Avenue Hotel - Good Food, Tandoori Everynight. Silver Dust band play on a Friday Night, which is a very good evening. (Silver Dust also play at East Meets West). They also have a Karoake night on a Monday, I appreciate this is not everyones cup of tea, but for those people who have attended said it was a very good night.

Malaks - This is on the Baga/Calangute Road, between the beach road that leads down to Senhor Angelo ( Parees Blossom, Sudans and Robbie Burns) and between Bar Eclipse. It is next door to a very small Chapel ( Santa Cruz) It has Parasols and is down a couple of steps. Disabled access via the gate next to the Tour Operator next door. Serves the usual Multi Cuisine, but also Pizza, Pasta, Lasagne and Mexican. Seafood Lasagne for 225 rupees is gorgeous and covers a whole plate. Don't order a starter or share this Lasagne! Also has a discrete TV for those couples whose one half wants to watch the football, but the other doesn't.

Tibet - On the Calangute Road down towards the beach steps there are 3 tibetan restaurants. Taste of Tibet, Tibetan Kitchen and Tibet. My favourite is Tibet , which is on the other side of the road to the other 2. It is up the stairs, opposite Sunflowers Hotel. (Next to the Football Pitch cum coach/car park) . Lamb Sesame, Mongolian Chicken, Momos, Noodles and plenty of Veg options. In my opinion Cheaper and better food than the other 2 tibetan restaurants.

Red Lion Pub - Please do not confuse this lovely establishment with the tacky dirty Red Lion on the Calangute High Street near the Plantain Leaf/Redonda. (Although I do realise this is popular with some Brits) . This is an oasis down a side street off the Baga/Calangute road. Its on the side street next to Park Avenue, up from Infantaria/Ticlo, or coming up from the beach , you can get to it by going up the Calangute Car Park Raod near Popeyes/Falcon Guest House/Alleys. Turn Left where the buses park and follow the road round. Its a lovely oasis. Glass tables, Metal Chairs, TV, Pool table, and extensive menu open for Breakfast, lunch and Dinner. Toilets are superbly clean. It is lovely and cool , even without the aid of a fan. Please note they normally shut by 11pm unless there is football on. Chef is Nepalise. Did find that orders over 6 people did take a while, but where worth waiting for.

Alleys - Say Hello to Harry! This is a lovely restaurant that , as above, you can get to from the Calangute Car Park/Popeyes/Eden Road. They do Multi Cuisine and Tandoori. They also do a wonderful proper mash potato with peeled spuds. Happy Hour is from 7 -11pm where kings is 25rps, kingfisher 45rps . Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent price. Who would know that it is just round the corner from the main Calangute beach road!
