turunc is lovely but i personally find akyaka more scenic and a fair bit nearer to the airport, akyaka is unspoilt and is a traditional turkish holiday resort with a lovely sandy beach, have a look at the photos ive listed in the gallery and these links. quite a few turkish resorts some people are recommending have stoney beaches so be careful where you go if you want a nice sandy beach

Have a look here for Turunc villas:

We went to Turunc a couple of years ago and enjoyed it. You could also have a look at some of the quieter resorts on the Bodrum peninsular - Yalikavak, Torba, Ortakent and Gumusluk are all nice, quiet and unspoilt.

Hi Lucy,Turunc sounds ideal for you.We visited it on a lazyday boat trip, not enough there for me,but a really nice place,a few nice restaurants and bars,I bought a lovely leather coat there last year. The beach is a bit stoney but I loved to sit in the clear water to keep cool. You can also take a taxi boat to Icmeler if you fancy,a pretty place but becomming more busy now,but has some excellent restaurants and entertainment.

Hi to all

Thanks for all your replies - plenty of food for thought. Akyaka does look lovely - again though I'm having difficulty finding a villa with a private pool near the beach.

Have any of you been to Kalkan? just wondering what that's like - it seems to have plenty of villa accommodation but does that mean it's very commercialised too?

Thanks again for your advice.

Turunc is a great choice, many people who go there get hooked, and end up going back several times, its a great small, friendly resort.
Have a look at http://www.holiday-in-turunc.com our agents website. I'm not sure whether she has villa's with private pools, but its worth a look because there is quite a bit of info about Turunc there.
Everywhere has its pluses and minuses. We also like Akayaka, the beach is the great there, but the village is a little more spread out than Turunc. There's nothing like walking down the main street through Turunc in the evening (which is pedestrianised at night), you only have to be there a couple of days and everyone knows you and greets you, but without the hassle of a big resort.

I haven't been to Kalkan but a friend has been there a few times and she loves it. It is somewhere I have looked at and hope to visit one day. It isn't commercialised but I don't think it has much of a beach actually in the resort, a small pebbly one I think but there is a nice beach not too far away. I'm sure someone who has stayed there can give you more details. Meanwhile have a look at these sites, they may be of help

Kas is another resort in the same area but again I think there is only a small beach in the resort.
