I'd take Pounds and change them in Bulgarian banks, if using cash - perhaps change £20 into Leva here before you go for drinks, emergencies, etc., on the first day. You will get a better rate in Bulgaria.

do you know what the current rates about levi to pounds ???

seen lots of stuff saying take dolars

so you wouldnt bother what about the price of ciggrettes

Hi Jason,

Don't take Dollars, you'll lose out by paying two lots of exchange commission - read the thread that I linked to above.

Cigarettes are about 2-2.60 Leva per 20 - local brands. Brands that you recognise in the resorts will almost certainly be fakes.

Today's rate is £1=2.852 Leva in one Bulgarian bank.

Today's bank rate appears to be around 2.85 leva to the GBP, which is more than you'll get in the UK.

Advice to take US$ is very old and wrong. If you are in the Euro Zone they will also do.

Prices are difficult to predict, we don't know the full effects of EU entry yet.
