Ideal budget holiday in Scotland if you don't mind self catering. We've just had a glorious family holiday at Crawford Cottages Kirriemuir. You'll probably find them in google. It's a small private family business and they really aren't charging as much as they should. Prices are bound to increase once they realise how popular the place is. If you like being in the countyside but have the comfort of knowing there are towns nearby 4 or 5 miles, with lots to do, then you'll really love this location. The proprietors go all out to make your holiday one of the best you've ever had. They really do care about their guests. It was such a change from our previous experiences, that occasionally we had to pinch ourselves to make sure it wasn't all a dream.
I was just looking for someway of telling others about this bargain holiday, before prices go up as they surely must, when I saw this thread.
Regrets - that we only had one week there. Going back in October and have booked two weeks on 07. What more can I say!
We paid £1300 for 2 weeks 5 * AI in Mexico in August last year. We spent around £300. It's a lot less than your budget and a fantastic holiday.
I'd recommend somewhere like Turkey (Bodrum/Gumbet, or Marmaris) or Greece...been to both them places over the last couple of years and the total for a weeks accomodation for two has always been under £600 (even in peak season) Not 4*hotels for that price obviously, but you don't sound like you wanna spend all that much time in the hotel anyway

I know what you mean about the spending money, I always have to be careful with it, but even doing so I still spend more than a grand (just on me)

Dazzler is there no movement on the price for the holiday. Total cost of you going on holiday £2,700.
My thoughts would be that you go AI for about £1,500 and have £1,200 to spend whilst you are both there. Remember all food and drink is included so your £1,200 is purely on trips and prezzies.
You could go the Caribbean for a bit more, again still have about £700.00 for spending money.
Maybe have a little flexiblity with your total cost of holiday and spends and you will have a great deal.
Worth considering however, if you want to book it now and not wait until nearer the time, then remember it will not be long before the second edition brochures will be out and the price goes up a little more.

I can't for the life of me see why anyone without kids would want to go all inclusive, except if they are going to somewhere in the caribbean where they are not on the doorstep of bars and restaurants. I think the reason that such a lot of spending money is needed rather than on the accommodation is that Dazzler likes to get out and about eating and drinking in the resort they have chosen.

Dazzler does stipulate studio or hotel.
If A/I flags up cheaper than a studio or half/full board in a hotel then why not.
