Very hard to write a good review, always easier to moan, but I will try.

Hotel very clean, there were always cleaners brushing up, mopping gardeners tiding, staff always seemed to be cleaning something.

Food was ok, nothing special but to be expected when you are catering for a massive audience always fresh salads, cheese, lovely fresh bread, always 5 or 6 main courses to choose from with a potato dish, just a shame there wasn't many evenings when veg was on.

Staff all friendly one guy behind the bar a bit grumpy, but can't all be happy all the time.

Entertainment team were great they worked really hard rehearsing in the day then till 11pm with the show, then went down to the sports bar for a disco until 12pm and still smiling.

The sun bed situation everyone is moaning about i felt was a good idea you couldn't reserve a bed before 9am, which i felt was great to not have to creep out of bed at an unearthly hour, we got up and on the way to breakfast managed to get the same sunbeds most mornings.

Oh beware the pool isn't deep enough for diving and the small signs on the bridges are not clear enough to mean no diving in whole pool, life guards do not enforce the rule, which means people will get hurt, my 11 year old broke his front tooth and cut all his lip when he hit the bottom, yes his has a broken tooth, but it could have been a lot worse, so be careful.

The only thing we could moan about if we were forced to was the beds were very shabbly put together so very squeeky just to turn over, and the water pressure was pretty bad at teatime you needed to wait until 7ish to get a shower which wasn't a problem and I thing it may have been caused by us being on the second floor.

All in all a lovely two weeks and if the first weeks weather would have been better we would have been even happier.

When we arrived we were very impressed. We had stayed in some horrible hotels before but this looked brilliant.

Room was clean and airy with all modern fixtures. The only problem was that we ended up with one of the rooms overlooking the road behind so didn't sit on balcony much.

Outdoor pools were great but indoor pool was a bit lacking.

Our baby was just under one one at the time and we found the hotel more for a slightly older child as couldn't even put him in the nursery because of this. We ordered a baby pack which wasn't at our room when we arrived so had to ring around and then was asked if we still wanted it. We didn't get a playpen as stated.

Hotel wasn't far from town and beach.

Hotel staff were nice especially the waitresses who our baby boy really took a shine too.

Entertainment was OK.

Overall the hotel was very good but reminded me of Butlins sort of place.

We booked this holiday without much research or having read any reviews. The main attraction to us was the creche facilities and the overall price.

On arrival we were pleasantly surprised as we had a Select room which we did not realise we would get. We had either paid extra for this without realising it (the overall price was still relatively low) or we had been upgraded. The room was in good condition and clean and very spacious. We were on the ground floor overlooking the children's pool(more on that later). The balcony stretched the width of our apartment and we could access it either via the living room or our bedroom. This was really useful as we put our baby's cot (she 14 months) at the living room and we could still use the kitchenette, bathroom, bedroom and balcony without disturbing her. We were all inclusive so only used the kitchenette to make tea and coffee and warm the baby's milk.

The grounds of the complex were beautifully kept with loads of new planting. There were masses of flower beds full to the brim with displays. If they keep up the standards, once the plants have matured it will be stunning with arched walkways of bougainvillea.

The main pool was lovely BUT deep all over. The kids pool was a bit of a joke. It was tiny - about 3m in diameter and had steep steps down into it and was still quite deep so not much good for tiny tots. Luckily, my little girl is very used to the water and spent her time with us in the big pool otherwise we would have been really disappointed. The splash park was fantastic. I had never seen anything like that before, although now I see them quite a lot. For a crawling baby that loves the water this was ideal. There was a fight for the sunbeds in the morning and lots of people put out towels in the morning and then didn't even use the beds until the afternoon which was annoying.

In the morning we were able to put our baby for a nap in our apartment and sit by the pool and the monitor (our own) worked at the pool edge. However, the maid did come in and clean one day and not notice the baby sleeping and switched off the electric - which switched off the baby alarm!!

We prebooked the creche at the time of booking the holiday which gave us first choice in booking sessions on resort. This was useful as some of the slots were more popular than others. It was the first time that we had left our baby in a creche (ever) so we were a bit nervous but felt confident in the staff who were lovely and very caring and it seemed very well run and organised.

The entertainment was Butlins style but generally OK. It's not really my thing but it did the job it was supposed to do. The lounge did get packed in the evening and sometimes it was hard to find a seat. I believe in high season the entertainment is on the outside stage - but beware of biting insects!

The food was good but not excellent. A wide choice but it did get a bit monotonous - more because it was the same place rather than the menu. The earlier kids sittings were handy if you have a very young child. We did feel a bit rushed as the staff seemed to need to turn the tables over quickly - and the complex was only half full so dread to think how crowded it would be in July or August. One morning a family got their tea coffee and juice, went to get their food and when they came back their table had been cleared and new people sitting there!

We would go back to this or a similar resort but would go self catering so we could eat out at different places. We both put on loads of weight as we felt compelled to eat 3 big meals a day as we had paid for it - and we were very greedy. The all inclusive drinks were good except the cocktails which were cheap pre-mixed and often warm and in a half pint glass!

Overall a very easy and relaxing holiday which we enjoyed very much.

We travelled to Ca'n Picafort for the second time after visiting last year. We loved our stay last year at the Haiti but this year decided to go self catering as our son came with us.

What a disappointment!

The Viva is not bad when you first arrive. The rooms are good. We were in block 2 on the 1st floor and had a nice pool view. The kitchen is small but you have all you need. The bathroom is good, including a lovely separate shower which is big and is very powerful! The bedroom is ok. Nice balcony with doors leading off from the lounge & bedroom.

Ok, starts off good... yet the pool is cold and far too deep for children. The baby pool is tiny - more jacuzzi sized! The pool at it's shallowest is 1.5m and deeper in the top pool. Sunbeds are ok but not very comfortable and you have to get off them to adjust the back!

The entertainment is dire! Sorry guys but it's just bad! I really don't want to see a "transvestive" leading some of the children's entertainment & some comments were far too blue for our liking with very young children around. The resident duo Powder Blue are stuck in a time warp & it's all very 80's and remenistant of childhood days spent in Butlins!

The pool snack bar is average, serving British style food, but nothing special. Far better to go into the resort & at try something Mallorcian like the tumbet for example.

All in all I'd say the Viva is very "BRITISH". Far too British for our liking I'm afraid! If you want a holiday that is a mini Britain then this is for you. Go all inclusive and you will have good value.

We will be going back to Ca'n Picafort, but would rather stay somewhere like Haiti where the staff are much more friendly!

We did have a great holiday, a good apartment, but will be escaping the holiday camp environment next year!

My party of 2 adults and 1 child have just returned from the Holiday Village Viva yesterday

On arrival the look of the hotel was wonderful all marble, very clean, and lots of water features ,

ROOM: They are a good size for a family of my size but I think for a family of 4 it could get a bit tight. I'm glad I went all inclusive as the kitchen is very poor and would not have liked to have to cook in it

I have mixed feeling on the complex. The first week I really enjoyed , but the second week was disappointing. The staff were starting to flag as it was coming to the end of the season all they could think about was how many days they had left, and the new arrivals were more like 18 -30 with no family's. They sat getting drunk day and night. Not what you want on a family holiday but I think it was due to people looking for a cheap last min holiday

At night they would sit around the pool with beer bottles which got smashed and you spent the morning trying to collect the glass so it did not go in your child feet.

Normally the pool area was spotless but I did notice the cleaners numbers were slowly going down so put it down to that, but with it not getting cleaned properly the flies were always on you and the wasps were too not good when sun bathing. I put it down to being the end of the season and staff finishing there contract

I think this resort would be great in the hight of season

The only other thing was there was a bug going around which all the children were getting sickness, ear ache and a very high temp some said it was the indoor pool but I'm not sure my daughter was in both pools, personally I think it was just a bug going around

Also the shop on the site was running down it stock so there was not much for sale.

Diluting juice is not available for the kids its all fizzy so take some with you.

I know I have put down a lot of neg comments but please don't let this put you off as I said going in the high season I think this would be a excellent holiday.

Have to agree with all positive comments about HVV - room spotless and kept tidy by the maids. Hotel grounds are lovely with all the green grass and water features. Everywhere is so clean and tidy.

Stayed AI and the food at all times was excellent - loved the early lunch and tea for children - suited us as have 2 under 4's. Good selection at all times. Staff really friendly and by mid week they recognised us and treated us like friends!

Pool was clean but have to agree that the baby pool was really poor - 6 babies filled it! But my 2 prefered the normal pool anyway with their baby float seat and armbands!

Entertainment was good - kids disco was a hit with our 3 year old and 1 year old! Reps seemed friendly.

Don't use kids clubs so can't comment on them! But all kids seemed to do was drawing!

We have just returned from the Holiday Village Viva with 4 adults and 2 children 3 & 4 in our party.

I thought the hotel was really nice, rooms were clean and cleaned by maids daily.

The swimming pools were great and big so no over-crowding, the top pool was deeper then then bottom pools so you have a choice. The pools were deep for toddlers but our children found them fine. Babies pool was tiny so didn't even bother with that.

Food was great loads of choice and was always nice.

Hotel location was good, 10 minute walk to beach and shops but I would suggest a buggy for under 4's. Not that much in the town really few shops but all the same really. Bus stop just down the road which goes to Alcudia which has more to do if you can actually get on a bus that it as they are very busy!

Entertainment was good our kids loved the mini disco each evening all reps worked really hard.

Kids splash park was excellent our children loved this shame it was only on a few times of the day.

All in all had an excellent holiday here would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone could not fault anything really and would definitely return

There is not much else to be mentioned that hasn't been mentioned before.

We were in a party of 2 families, both with 1 child aged 2 and a half. We were on an All Inclusive holiday so had the full range of facilities.

On Arrival late evening the hotel from the outside was a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad but wasn't quite was I was expecting, but once you get inside and sort your room key out and walk through to the grounds it is quite impressive late at night with all the lights and water.

The hotel cleanliness was first class. Staff worked hard and rooms were cleaned all but 2 days we were there. The Hotel grounds were kept in excellent condition.

The bar staff were generally friendly but a few could of done with some happy pills.

In the restaurant there were a couple of things that were a little annoying but nothing to ruin the holiday. They were that they removed your plates very quickly and a couple of times whilst my wife was still eating which wasn't great. The other thing was the eating times for children were different from Adults which again although did not cause any major issues made life a little awkward at times.

The food itself was very good and as varied as you could probably get in the main restaurant. We did try the Caribbean grill one night. The concept is a great idea, it was nice to be waited on although the food could of been better.

The location is fine and as mentioned is only 10 mins walk downhill to the beach/shops.

Now my only down point to this holiday. Entertainment. The entertainments team clearly worked very hard, you could not fault their enthusiasm. In some of their shows there dance routines were very good. However apart from one girl the rest could just not sing to a good enough standard. As a group they could not act or sing and had no comic timing. At times there was just a deafly silence and I half expected tumbleweed to go past. Nobody else we spoke to on holiday actually thought that the evening productions were any good. It became a talk of the day item amongst guests as to what songs they might murder that night. Definite room for improvement.

The entertainment brought in from outside was fantastic but there was just not enough of it. The Matrix was brilliant.

Even taking the above into consideration the hotel and facilities were very good and seemed to cater for everyone. Had a very good holiday and would go back.
