Got a bit damp today, started early morning about 4 ish the electric went off, along with the aircon (must get an inverter) then a bit of lightning followed by thunder, then the rain for a few hours. The problem is the early rains bring down all the dirt and rubbish off the roofs so you end up with trying to clean up six months worth of muck and bullets that has been sitting on the roof.
Boil the water on the gas (still no electric) and make tea (only your bog standard green tea none of Chillys stuff with ginger and honey bee)
The rain stops but the caretaker has disappeared (clean done a Merlin) so you get out there and clean up six months of cr*p off of the verandas so you can sit down to drink your tea. It is great after the rain so fresh, the electric flashes on for two heart beats to a big cheer and followed by curses. Take a cold shower with no pump and find some light weight clothing for the day.
The electric comes on so fire up the computers and the internet to down load emails but to late the electric has gone again, twiddle the thumbs and decide to go out for the day, get in the car, low on petrol so drive to Anjuna but garage has no generator so go home again.
Get home and the caretaker has hung out all the washing that had been put in the machine, shame about the electric been off because it might have been clean if it had been on.
Midday and the electric comes on about the same time as the heavens open so retire to the kitchen for lunch but to hot after cooking so go back to the veranda as it has stopped raining, open a couple of beers with lunch and thinking of a siesta but the caretaker wants to clean so crash out on the damp sun beds under the dripping trees.
Wake up to the mossies and a million other insects that did not exist before the rains, hobble inside as your back is now as stiff as a board after laying on damp beds and you feel like a pin cushion but manage to pour a couple of VAT's just before the electric goes off again.
Another cold shower and shall we go out or eat in. No contest the car has no petrol, so I am sitting here with chronic indigestion playing on the 'puter waiting for the next power cut while 'er in doors is crashed out after cooking the "big meal", but I still don't want to go home next week. Am I sick or sumfing?
Yep you're sick....it's the thought of coming back somewhere thats has OTT prices, polictical correctness gone mad (artists have just been told no 'church scenes' in local hospital), traffic jams, roadworks with no one working, politicians on the take.... etc etc. THAT'S whats making you sick!

Yes things are so bad in this country - the eastern europeans, the Afghans, the Iranians and now the Gurkhas are desperate to get in here.
Just go and get a good inverter - we have lived in Goa for many years and when INVERTERS were introduced we bought one and it was the best thing we ever did - after buying a fridge/freezer - microwave/fitted kitchen/skytv - and the lots of things that make life good.
piopleshadow told me on this site that there is no problem with insects in the monsoon but I must quote this = as when I was there in my one and only monsoon these insects were horrid and the reason I will never go back to Goa in the monsoon.

We didn't find the zuari (konkani for mosquito, same as the bridge and river) too bad last monsoon, as long as usual precautions are taken. These include not sleeping partially clad in the garden at the time they start to feed 
Maybe its all to do with the area you live in?
As far as the inverter is concerned, yes, I fully endorse Waterproof,s view that its the best buy by far! Good for fans, lights, tv, satellite, computer, etc, but.............unless you are prepared to shell out on a mega-buck system, forget AC, fridges, kettles, ovens, hot showers or anything that is a high power user, or it will drain drain your batteries quicker than a Goan asking for more money!
