hi you would like cambrils and la pineda. the beaches are lovely. cambrils have a lot of retuarants on the front with the marina .very relaxing. i think la pineda is quieter.

Doesn't Cambrils more or less run into Salou so you could have the best of both worlds? Been a long time since I've been to Salou but that's what I've heard. They used to be separate but are now more or less one resort?

hi glynis yes cambrils does run into salou and the buses are very frequent. or the land train goes that way.taxis are a bit more if you feel flush!!(expensive)

Also I heard that there is not much English spoken in Cambrils, my Spanish is non existant, will this be a problem?

there is quite a few along the seafront and we've never had a problem not speaking spanish.

Ended up booking Villa Romana in Salou

Vi.la Romana is a lovely hotel and in a quiet area of Salou. To be honest, compared to some other Spanish resorts Salou is not that noisy and out of the main holiday months of July and August is never rowdy (even in July & August its rare for it to be rowdy). I hope you have a nice time, Salou doesn't score well on Spanish culture but has a lovely beach and seafront and some nice bars on the rocks on the left hand side of the main beach. If you walk down the promenade to the marina and do a right turn into Barcelona Street you will find a more Spanish side to the resort (its not typical white washed but much more Spanish than the other end of town). You are also only 5-10 minutes by bus from Cambrils which will offer you a taste of real Spain. Have a nice time!

Thanks Mark, I have heard nothing but good reports about the hotel and got a very good deal for half board (300 for 6 nights for the two of us), in fact it was only £16 more for halfboard than bed n breakfast.

Am so exited now, hope the weather is gonna be ok cause its been really miserable here and I could do with cheering up!
