Flight Only / Airline and Airports

only taking small case as hand luggage. They say handbags must be put in the case but you can also take on a standard carrier bag from duty free. Can we not put our handbag into the carrier bag.

The problem is that the security staff may well insist on the 'one bag' rule as you go through to departures before you've bought your duty free. So you will still need to find room in the case for your handbag at that point.

I wouldn't worry about the security staff, many airlines allow one bag plus a "personal item" such as handbag/man bag camera case etc... The security staff don't police the amount of bags, just the contents of said bags.

At Bristol I have seen Easyjet staff make ladies put/stuff there handbag in there cabin bag so they only have one bag and put them in the cage again to make sure they still fit

Easyjet have enforced the one bag limit when I've flown with them. But as a previous poster mentioned the security staff aren't normally bothered about the amount of bags you take through.

Does easyjet do any flights from Manchester out of terminal 1. I was just about to book my airport parking, and noticed it says terminal 1 on my email. I am flying to Sharm el Sheikh. I have flown with easyjet many times and only ever used terminal 3 before.

I'm confused! When did the regulations - as detailed at the top of the first page of the Hand Luggage thread - change? If they have changed and all airports now allow 2 bags then the advice given here needs to be edited.

Each passenger is restricted to carrying only one item of cabin baggage through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm. Other bags, such as handbags, may be carried within the single item of cabin baggage.

UPDATE: Some airlines and/or airports now allow two pieces of hand luggage, while others still only allow one. It is important that passengers check the website of the airline they are travelling with, as well as the websites of the airports they are travelling to and from, as restrictions may differ on the outward and return flights.

But at Edinburgh, for example, you are only allowed to take more that one bag through if the airline you are travelling on allows you to take more than one bag onto the plane but if they only allow one bag then that's all you are allowed to take through security. Every time I've flown from Edinburgh, your boarding passes are checked before you are even allowed to enter the queing area for security and I have seen people at that point advised that they must place all items in a single bag depending on which airline they are flying with. So a lot could still depend on which airports the OP is flying to and from.

I use Heathrow, Gatwick, plus 3 German Airports on a pretty regular basis. I always take two bags through with me and it's only when I reach the departure gate that some airlines will then enforce the one bag rule. There was a period of time when only one item of baggage was allowed through to security no matter which airline you were using but it's not now being enforced in any of the major airports that I frequently use. BA and Lufthansa allow me to take two bags, but even though I travel with Easyjet quite often I think the people checking boarding cards before entry to security are probably too busy to check the amount of bags that I am carrying and I haven't been told up to now that I am only allowed one.

Security's job is to check the contents, not decide how many bags an airline will allow.

That Update is correct and self explanatory, Easyjet allow one piece of hand-luggage, ..... but also a duty free bag now!

As you state " people at that point ADVISED that they must place all items in a single bag" the security staff have noticed from your boarding card that you are flying on easyjet for example and ADVISING you on their baggage policy.

"Boarding passes are checked before you are even allowed to enter the queing area for security" .....they don't need to see your passport because Check-in has done that part and issued a boarding card which allows entry to the security area then departure lounge. Security staff will notice who you are flying with and where, but are not over-interested in whether you are complying with the airlines baggage policy they are simply being helpful in advising you what might happen at the departure gate. ( I think in Edinburgh's case , because you are only allowed one bag by your airline they are making sure you only have one bag for them to check .... less work for them!! I know Gatwick generally were more strict on this point when they were with BAA )

Judith stated that "there was a period of time when only one item was allowed through to security no matter which airline" this was at the point when the liquids ruling came in , and now most airlines allow a small handbag as well as the 56x45x25 hand luggage so this rule has been relaxed and is a reasonable and common-sense response and that change was covered in the UPDATE posted above.

Booked a flight from Bristol to Dalaman next month, and when I go into 'my bookings' my boarding card is there, which I have printed out for my outward journey.

I dont see any boarding pass for the return journey though, is this normal?
Reply
AS you are flying next month, there shouldn't be any reason why you couldn't print off both boarding cards at the same time. Try going back on to the Easyjet site again and click on manage bookings and the info should come up.

Thanks Judith, I have done that, but it only shows the outbound flight.

Sorry that wasn't much help. If both flights were on the same booking then they should both be showing up. Hopefully someone else may be able to give advice.

Thanks for trying Judith. Its definitely not there, so I have emailed Easyjet to see what happens with the return boarding pass.

This may be a silly suggestion, but have you checked-in for the return flight yet? or have you only checked-in for your outbound flight? You also need to check-in online for your return flight in order to receive and print your boarding card for that sector.

If your return journey is more than 60 days away you won't be able to print you boarding pass yet.

We had this to marrakesh, online for the outward flight but had to check in on the way home

Sorry, online check in is not available when flying from this airport. Please go to the easyJet Check-in desks on arrival at the airport.

That is the message I get when I try to check in, and I can download the boarding passes, but its only the outward journey. Maybe they give them to me at the airport??

We fly out Sept 25th and return Oct 10th so thats 57 days, could that possibly be the reason?

That is perhaps what happens with us then Shrimper?
