We have just a week without kids to holiday this year late July. We loved Megeve in the summer, as we love walking, picnicing, quite small hotels but near to towns with a bustly restaurant and bar life....
We did think about Sardinia, but it just hasn't grabbed us...busy, nothing to see...
We hate lazing on a beach but want to relax.....
Please give some ideas... we need help. My g/f will be 40 this July so I also want to make it special.....

If you want something different try looking at the Picos de Europa / Asturias area in Northern Spain. The Picos is a national park, very scenic, excellent for walking, Potes is a good centre, or close by Covadonga is a bit bigger. There is 'turismo rural' in both which is the equivalent of a B&B. Close by, so you could be on the coast to enjoy those little fishing villiages are Llanes, Ribadesella, Comillas amongst others.
Hi, have you thought about Puerto Pollensa in mallorca? Its the northern end and a very traditional resort with a mountain backdrop, lovely beach and really nice bars and restaurants. You can rent private villas with a pool really cheaply and easy jet flights are reasonable.
