PRAGUE IN FEBRUARY

No its lovely viv. We went about that time and the temperature hovered around zero most of the time but I cant say it felt that bad . The walking warms you up anyway . just make sure you take some layers with you and maybe a pair of thermals if you feel the cold . Essentials will be a hat , scarf and gloves and comfortable walking boots or trainers :) . check the weather forecast before you go as its common to have snow at that time of year and that would determine your footwear.

Don't think twice about it Viv - it's a fantastic place. As Lyn said - be prepared - we had a beautiful spring day, a day of belting rain & a day of snow when we were there and we'd love to go back. Plenty of layers is what you need, as although it's cold outside once you step into pubs & cafes the heat hits you. A warm waterproof coat & an umbrella and you won't go far wrong.

We went in February a few years ago and it snowed - made the city look beautiful and although it was very cold, we wrapped up well and were out walking all day, stopping for coffee now and then to warm up.

Definitely have a hat and gloves and some good walking shoes/boots and you will be fine. It's a fantastic place to go, so don't let the cold put you off!

Prague is a beautiful place to visit. On a very cold day with bright sunshine and blue sky to set off the architecture, what more could anyone want? Take plenty of warm things and you'll be fine. After all, you wouldn't not go skiing because it was cold, would you?

It's a lovely crisp coldness. We did the layers thing, a thermal T shirt from M&S as they are thin but warm, a sweatshirt and our coat and we were fine. You need the layers so that when you go into the warm pub you're not too hot :cheers

Try and go to the castle by noon. They do the changing of the guards every hour, but the one at noon is hilarious. It's a nice walk, but up an incline. There are some nice little shops on the way up. We did all our sightseeing on foot. There's so much to see you don't really need to do "trips" outside the centre.
I loved it there, and we will most certainly go back. Great day to be going as well - St David's day.

I'm really glad you enjoyed. We will most definitely return as well, and like you will probably try a different season.

What about places to eat/drink in the evening? any recommendations, and are there places to avoid?

:cheers

julian - loads of really nice restaurants to eat in, too many to name. We didn't have a bad meal in the 4 days we were there. There's a lovely wine bar in Wencleslas Square, where the wine is drawn from wooden kegs - lovely stuff. Just make sure you know exactly where your accommodation is before you drink any :rofl lethal.

Thanks Helen,

I have heard rumours that they will try and rip off tourists by adding to bills, is this true?

Well, off to Prague on wednesday for a couple of days, staying at the Hilton. Booked through Alpha Rooms and got a good rate.

Will let you "Truthers" the best bits on return.
