Ryanair decided to stop using Reus as a base airport, but they do still fly there from the UK.

i can speak for my local airport and there are no flights now
there are a few flights from luton
if you go via reus then there is a regular coach service around the salou area [but dont know if the cover other areas]

I was looking at the best way to get to Salou departing from Cardiff or Bristol and I don't think it's doable. Can't even seem to find packages that depart from either.
Just had a quick look at Ryanair from Bristol ,only looked at June and they still fly there but it is shown as Barcelona (Reus) and yes it is the closest place to Salou by a long way
hi Shirley and wizard.....last time I went Salou was oct 2010...for a short break...flew ryanair from Lpool into Reus...I did read they were pulling out of gerona...there was something going on about the subsides local goverment were willing to give them to bring the tourists in...and there was a dissagreement between them and gerona...so they were pulling out.....but thought Reus was bussiness as usual.
Just read shrimpers post ...and reus is the nearest to salou...infact its only about 30 minute transfer.
I used to coach it to Salou with siesta for main hols...they had 2 caravan sites ...camping la siesta...and Sanguli.....the le siesta site finnished a few years ago....sanguli was still on offer but under threat...tweetie

Shirley since I've been travelling abroad, there's never been packages to Salou/Costa Dorada, from Cardiff, only Bristol and as you say it looks as even those have stopped now 
Thanks for all your advice. I wasn't asking for myself but helping Marlou with her research. She hasn't decided exactly where she wants to go yet.

just a thought....you need be careful...check exactly where ryanair is landing.....they used to list girona as barcelona...people booked thinking they were landing at barcelona airport...only to find they had a long and expensive transfer into barcelona................Im wondering if they have pulled out of girona.....and using reus as the airport for barcelona....which is good for salou...
There was some talk they were getting slots in barcelona...so not bothered about pulling out of gerona...

From Bristol they do seem to list it as Barcelona (Reus) or Reus (Barcelona) still along way to Barcelona but very close to Salou

If that's the case and it's a Thomson flight, they fly from Cardiff to Reus Airport, which always was the airport for the Costa Dorada, nevermind what Mickey says.
Reus Airport is about 14 kms away or 20/30 mins away in a car from Salou/Cambrils and BTW there is a town called Reus just North/West of the airport, so it's not just the airport name.

Your wrong there!!! I booked next years holiday from Cardiff to Salou/Costa Dorada with directholidays (thomascook sister)
Check with the TO and you will see what i'm on about
